Half Days and Parent/Teacher Conferences
Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th are 1/2 days for students. This means that dismissal will happen 3 hours earlier than normal. On both days, we will begin dismissal at 11:50. Please expect busses 3 hours early. For students who attend Ycare - you need to sign up for half day afternoon care directly through the YMCA by contacting Kayla Royer at kayla@bathymca.org.
If your student needs a bagged lunch on either day, please complete the lunch sign up form HERE. Teachers will not be taking lunch count on these morning as we need to prepare ahead of time to ensure students lunches are made and ready to go at the half day dismissal.
On Monday, November 25th, we will be holding Parent Teacher Conferences at Dike-Newell School. Your student's teacher will reach out directly to you for parent teacher conference appointments. If you have not heard from your child's teacher, please email Mrs. Walker in the main office at kwalker@rsu1.org to ensure we have updated contact information.
Lines from the Library
Dike-Newell School second grade students will have the opportunity to participate in Coding Club this year. Under the direction of Student Information Systems Manager, Matt Frey-Davis, and DNS Librarian, Lisa Hardman, students will be introduced to basic coding concepts through the use of Bee-Bot robots. They will then use these newfound skills to assist kindergarten and first grade students during Hour of Code in December

News from the Nurse
Please keep your student home for any of the conditions listed below. If your student needs to stay home because they are sick, notify the Main Office or school nurse.
If your student becomes ill at school, it is expected that a parent or emergency contact will pick up your student from school as soon as possible.
Students need to stay home if they have:
➔ A fever (temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher);
➔ Nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea;
➔ An unexplained/undiagnosed rash;
➔ Discharge from they eyes that is green or yellow;
➔ Uncontrolled coughing;
➔ Sore throat with a fever, stomachache, or red and swollen tonsils
Students may return to school once they are fever free for 24 hours, without the help of fever reducing medications, and free of vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours. If you have questions about keeping your student home from school or about returning to school after an illness, reach out to Ms. Dill, Dike-Newel School Nurse.

PTA Information and Updates
The DNS Coin Challenge is in full swing! Which grade will win the stuffy sleepover (only stuffies will be spending the night at school, not students)? These coins will help us provide teachers and students with fun resources and experiences throughout the school year. Thank you for your support!
Come and support our student makers, bakers and crafters this weekend at our 6th annual Makers Market! With over 30 student vendors this event is sure to be an exciting way to start your holiday shopping! The market is open from 9-12 on Saturday November 16th at FMS.
Did you know: instead of paying for their table, all makers are donating baking supplies to help the PTA and Now You’re Cooking provide 100 cookie kits for local families this holiday season! If you’d like to contribute we will have a collection bin there on Saturday. The cookie kits will be available at Bright Night Bath on December 6th, and then at Now You’re Cooking while they last.
Keep an eye on our FACEBOOK PAGE for all PTA related events.
