Message from Administration
Dear Tuscany Heights Elementary Parents,
It was a great week! We have some exciting news to share with our families about a new program that all of our students will experience during the specials rotation this year and we hope, even more next year, Tuscany Heights Makerspace. See below for more details and pictures of the exciting opportunity we are sharing with our students.
See dates below, but 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade Students take their Writing Benchmark this week. We will have closed campus until 10:45am. Thank you for understanding!
We had a fantastic time celebrating the honorable men and women that serve or have served our country. Thank you to Mrs. Destefano for orchestrating a beautiful event for our families. We are so grateful to you and all of our PTA Volunteers. To Mr. Tafoya, thank you for recognizing each and every family that walked the parade! We are also grateful to our student leaders, staff, and PTA Volunteers that spent time creating the success of this event, as well as the brave men and women. THANK YOU ALL!
On another note, we need to reach out with a reminder about the cafeteria. Please be sure that you use blue or black ink when writing checks to the cafeteria.
Thank you and let's make it a great week!
Tara Bailey
What is Tuscany Heights Makerspace?
The Tuscany Heights Makerspace Lab will use science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) to encourage student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. We want to encourage our students to take intellectual risks, participate in experiential learning and work through the creative process. These hands-on learning stations will give our Tigers the opportunity to collaborate and problem-solve in an environment that fosters the idea that every failure eventually leads to success.
Makerspace: Building a Magnificent Thing
The students were building with straws and connectors after hearing the story The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires. Students were challenged to build a 'magnificent thing'. Older students were challenged to build an invention to help a classroom teacher or student.
