WFBHS Parent/Guardian Link
September 16, 2024
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
As we settle into the rhythm of the school year, it's a great time to assess how your student is adjusting. Here are some questions to consider as you partner with your child:
- Academic Placement: Is your student feeling challenged and supported in their classes? If you have concerns about correct placement, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or counselor.
- Extracurricular Involvement: Has your student found a club or activity that sparks their interest and helps them feel more connected to school outside of the classroom? If not, be sure to check daily announcements for opportunities or stop in the Activities Office to see what is available.
- Organization and Time Management: Is your student staying organized and managing their workload effectively? Review their Canvas modules and assignment notebook together to identify any areas where they may need additional support. Consider evening routines for greatest efficiency of time.
- Balancing Commitments: Is your child finding a healthy balance between academics, extracurriculars, work, college applications and other commitments? Remember, quality over quantity is often key. If your student is feeling overwhelmed, consider discussing the possibility of dropping a class for a study hall. Students with seven classes may drop a class until the end of September.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We're here to support you and your child throughout the school year.
Kind regards,
Amy Levek

New Immunization Requirements
The Department of Health Services has updated immunization requirements for school-aged children. These requirements for school-age children will go into effect at the beginning of the 2024–2025 school year. If your family is interested in signing a waiver, please contact your healthcare provider or the district nurse.
Changes include:
- Meningococcal (MenACWY-containing) vaccine has been added as a requirement for students entering seventh grade, and a booster dose for eligible students entering 12th grade.
- If a child has had chickenpox, a parent report of chickenpox disease is no longer acceptable for exemption from the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine requirement. Children must have a diagnosis of chickenpox from a qualified health care provider (M.D., D.O., N.P., or P.A.) to be exempt from this requirement, however existing exemption options still apply.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services website includes additional information. We encourage you to contact your healthcare provider if you have specific questions, or to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
Upcoming School Board Meetings:
The community is welcome to attend School Board meetings to gain a better understanding of School District business and the role of the School Board. The public is also invited to address the Board during the public comment portion as indicated in Board meetings. Meeting agendas are posted within BoardDocs two days preceding each meeting.
