Teen causes fatal car accident
19-year-old now being charged after an accident that took the life of a Father and Son. Ryleigh Johnson was behind the wheel of a truck December 2nd and ran a red light at an intersection. David Dunham and his 9-year-old son was on their way home from a soccer game when Johnson slammed into their car. "From what I knew of David he was a great guy." his Neighbor Collins said. Collins added, "You shouldn't be texting and driving. That's just something that should not happen." Investigators now have a good picture of what caused the terrible crash. Johnson was texting and driving and blew right through the red light. She even ignored caution lights of the signal change ahead. According to the complaint, Johnson's 2 passengers told her multiple times to stop using her cell phone but she refused. They even yelled "red light! red light!" The 19-year-old driver is now being charged with criminal vehicular homicide, using a phone while in motion and driving without a valid license. "This is a very horrific trauma to go through, even as the driver you have to live with that the rest of your life." says Officer Haas. At first Johnson's boyfriend said he was behind the wheel because she didn't have a valid license. It eventually come out and was confirmed that Johnson was the driver. She had posted a tweet on twitter just seconds before the horrible accident.
