- Come join our Sunny Hill staff and support our PTO at McTeacher night. Mark your calendars and save the date for March 3rd. A special guest will be waiting for you! Flyers will be sent home with students next week. The class with the highest attendance will receive a surprise from McDonald's! Just be sure to show the event flyer at McDonald's. Let’s make it a great turnout!
Healthy Living: Heart Health
February is American Heart Month. All our students will be learning more about their hearts during the next month. They will be coming home with more information on Monday! Below, you can learn the difference between a cardiac arrest and a heart attack.
CoGAT Testing This Week
Mark your calendars!
Kindergarten Pre-Registration is Officially Open until February 28!
Do you have a child entering kindergarten for the next school year? All eligible children turning five years old before Sept. 1, 2025 need to enroll in kindergarten. Email registration@barrington220.org to get your registration link. If you missed the presentation for Kindergarten, here is the link.
Our Character Strong focus for February is Honesty!
We make it easy for you to discuss this at home. Just print the following document to guide conversations at home about honesty.
💡 Daily Parent Task: Check your student's take-home folder 💡
Teachers send home materials and books each day. It is the caretakers' job to review the take-home folder, help students with the materials, and read the books. With take-home books, many teachers ask for caretaker feedback on the student's reading. Be sure to read and send the book back to school, so future students can read it.
K-Lab Virtual Round-Up Additional Session
We will host a Kindergarten Lab (K-Lab) Virtual Round-Up Informational Session on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 6 - 7 p.m. for parents of incoming kindergarteners. Learn more about this unique, full-day program at Barrington High School, which offers a one-of-a-kind educational experience for our youngest learners and our high school students. K-Lab students participate in numerous activities with high school students, such as horticulture activities inside the BHS greenhouse, authentic learning experiences inside the state-of-the-art culinary arts lab, musical instrument exploration with high school band and orchestra students, and cultural celebrations. K-Lab students form connections to their home school through participation in extracurricular and PTO events throughout the year and complete grades 1-5 at their home elementary school. For more information about K-Lab and the virtual program link for Feb.26th, visit: https://www.barrington220.org/families/kindergarten-information.
Has anyone said your student gets distracted easily, that they may have ADHD, or has trouble focusing?
Schools are required by law to make and follow accommodations when a doctor diagnosis a student with ADHD. A diagnosis can cost thousands of dollars. However FREE diagnosis is available for students who need it, live in Kane County, and are income eligible. Read the flier below on "neuropsychological evaluations" for more information.
