Charlie Chu appointed to School Board
The Gladstone School Board selected Charlie Chu to fill a vacant seat on the board starting September 14. Chu is the first Vietnamese American to serve on the Board.
A Gladstone resident since 2018, Chu is a former comic book editor and publishing executive who recently served on the Gladstone School District Budget Committee. He is the parent of a third grader at John Wetten Elementary.
"I'm excited to join this group of advocates for the best interests of the students, educators, and the community of Gladstone," said Chu. "Our work supports the district's ongoing mission of growing great people."

Kids Clothes Closet reopens September 10
The Gladstone Kids Clothes Closet is open for free Back to School shopping each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. It is located in a portable classroom on the north side of the Gladstone High School campus off Nelson Lane.
The facility serves youths from birth to age 18. They provide free clothing, jackets, and shoes, as well as new socks and underwear. All are welcome. For information or emergency situations, call Clothes Closet Coordinator Becky Speulda at 503.997.8503.
Donations of clothing and shoes in sizes and styles for birth to age 18 are accepted Saturdays from 10 to noon. Please take adult clothing styles and non-clothing items to a different charity.
The Clothes Closet is run through a partnership between Gladstone Schools and volunteers from Gladstone Christian Church, Rotary Club of Gladstone/Oak Lodge, Gladstone Mutual Aid, and St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
