Housekeeping
Traffic
Please drive carefully on the school grounds. Only a few weeks remain, remember to follow campus policies regarding speed, handicap parking, and proper use of the entry and exits. Do not get out of your vehicle in the drop-off lane. If you need to exit your vehicle, drive through to park, and then exit your car to help your children. Please be patient during the packed and small drive.
Dismissal
Please encourage your children to pack up and go to the auditorium as soon as their teacher dismisses them. We have several students playing in the hallways after class who are not ready for dismissal. Also, inform your child(ren) every morning if they have afterschool activities or will be dismissed immediately after school. This will all contribute to a quick and efficient process.
Absences and Tardies
Again, with a few weeks left, please try to make it on time and to class each day. If you are ill and potentially contagious, please stay home until fever-free for 24 hours. Let's stay healthy!
Texas Vision and Hearing Reporting
AIS will be submitting all required Texas Vision and Hearing Reports on June 1st. Please make sure your family is in compliance. If you have any questions, you can contact Natalia at health@austinis.org
Dress Code
We ask all families to please respect the dress code. White and blue tops, blue bottoms, no logos or words, and no hoodies. Middle school students can wear beige or tan bottoms.

JOIN US! AIS Ornithology Learning Center (Our Resident Owls & Nesting Birds)
As we approach summer and Phase 1 of our campus improvements, we have the exciting opportunity to enhance the habitat for our resident owls and other nesting birds. Currently, they inhabit the columns in the portico! Drawing inspiration from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and their resident owl, Athena, we're reaching out to AIS parents, teachers, and students who are passionate about wildlife conservation to join a dedicated team. Together, we'll brainstorm and implement strategies to ensure our school continues to be a welcoming environment for these amazing creatures.
We're looking for volunteers interested in addressing the following questions:
- Where should our resident owls nest, and how many owl nests should AIS provide?
- Is there potential for collaboration with other institutions to establish an ornithology learning center at AIS?
- How can we support the various nesting birds that call our campus home?
- What's the best approach to integrating an ornithology plan into our summer campus work?
If you're keen to contribute and be part of this initiative, please reach out to the AIS Board via email to get involved. Let's make our campus a haven for both learning and wildlife!
