Mission Elementary
Riding the Wave of Excellence!
April 30, 2023
April showers definitely brought May flowers! Students are enjoying our campus in a different way. They are looking for 4 leaf clovers and enjoying the visitors we tend to get when flowers and plants are more abundant. We are seeing more lady bugs and butterflies flutter along. We remind students that their curiosity to observe these colorful creatures is a form of being a scientists and as scientists we also respect their environment. It is great to witness students' curiosity!
Do you wish to show your appreciation to our teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week and Classified Staff Appreciation week? Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8-12 and Classified Staff Appreciation Week is May 22-6. During Teacher Appreciation Week, we also honor our Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other certificated staff that support our learning efforts here at Mission!
Here are a few ideas for Teacher Appreciation/Certificated Staff Week (May 8-12):
Below are suggestions of ways students can participate in one, two or all five days!
Monday: Students may give a high five to staff and say "Thank you!"
Tuesday: Students may write a thank you note or draw a picture
Wednesday: Students may bring in a favorite snack
Thursday: Students can wear their teacher's favorite color
Friday: Surprise teachers with something from their list of favorite things (A website link to access these lists will be sent to families on Tuesday, May 2nd).

OUSD NEWS
OPD Traffic Support at all OUSD Schools
Starting this week, you may be seeing an increase in police presence around our schools. Oceanside Police Officers will go by schools during drop off and pick-ups to monitor traffic. They cannot be at every school daily but will rotate around the city. This will not be a mandatory enforcement detail but an observation, education, and last resort, enforcement. We want everyone to be safe, especially around our schools and we appreciate our partnership with OPD.
