Parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween and your family had a great time!! As we move into November, I want to take a moment to celebrate our school’s RISE UP values: Responsibility, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Patriotism. These values aren’t just words for us; they’re what we live by every day as a community and your support makes all the difference.
Let’s Aim for On-Time Arrivals
We all know that starting the day right is key to a successful school experience! To help our kids feel settled and ready to learn, we’re asking families to please strive for an 8:10 a.m. arrival each morning, as class begins at 8:15. Arriving at school on time sets a positive tone for the day and helps students be more successful. Here are some of the benefits of students arriving on time each day.
Maximized Learning Time: Being on time ensures that students don’t miss important information or instructions at the beginning of classes, which can set the stage for the rest of the lesson.
Routine and Structure: Regularly arriving on time helps students develop a routine, fostering responsibility and time management skills that are essential for academic and personal success.
Better Engagement: Arriving early allows students to settle in, connect with peers, and prepare mentally for learning, which enhances focus and participation during lessons.
Reduced Stress: When students arrive on time, they can start the day calmly rather than rushing, leading to a more positive mindset and better overall performance.
Positive Relationships: Being punctual helps build rapport with teachers and classmates, contributing to a supportive learning environment where students feel valued and included.
Thank you for helping us make punctuality a priority! If mornings are a bit hectic for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
I’m excited about our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences this Friday, November 8, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to sit down and chat about how your child is doing in school. We want to meet with every single parent because we believe that when we work together, we can support our kids in the best way possible.
You should have received details from your child’s teacher about signing up for a time to meet. If you haven’t scheduled yours yet, please do! We can’t wait to share how amazing your child is doing and how we can continue to work together for their success.
Join Us for the Book Fair This Week!
Don’t forget, our Book Fair is happening all week! It’s a great chance to discover new books and get our kids excited about reading. Come by and check it out:
Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
We’d love to see you there!
Halloween Celebration and Costume Drive
Thank you for making our Halloween celebration such a fun day! The parade was filled with amazing costumes, and it was so heartwarming to see how many of you came and supported your child even in the cold. A big thank you to all the parents who attended and volunteered for the classroom parties—your support means the world!
To continue the spirit of Halloween, we’re starting a Halloween Costume Drive and invite you to donate any gently used or new costumes. This will help provide costumes for students who may not have the ability to get one for future events. If you’d like to donate, please drop off costumes at the school office before November 7th. Your generosity will help ensure that all our students can participate in the fun!
I want to give a special shoutout to Vice Principal Stoney, our teachers, and instructional assistants for their hard work in making this day so memorable. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Celebrating Our October Parent Engagement Night!
A huge thank you to everyone who made our October Parent Engagement Night such a hit! We had over 150 of you join us for Hotel Transylvania, and it was so much fun sharing popcorn and laughter together. A special shoutout to Vice Principal Stoney and Parent Council President Mrs. O’Donnell for all their hard work in putting this event together.
Mark your calendars for our next Parent Engagement Night on November 14th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Mathnasium will be there with games and prizes, so it’ll be a blast!
Thank you parents for being such a vital part of our school. Your involvement makes a huge difference!. I’m looking forward to seeing you at conferences, the Book Fair, and Engagement Night!

Note from Our High School Principal - Amanda Kuhnz
Happy November! We can't believe winter is almost upon us. We are thankful to so many for the special events that have occurred on our campus recently. Here is an update on some of those:
- Thank you to our Parent Council and high school Student Government for putting together and following through with a beneficial Red Ribbon Week, bringing awareness to our students of living a healthy, drug-free life!
- We had a successful Junior High School Halloween Stomp. Thank you to Mr. Nelson and our junior high student council and leaders who organized and carried out the festivities
- Congratulations to our Varsity Football team for making the 2nd round of state playoffs. They will play tonight in Morgan. Good luck, Eagles! And well done to our fall sports on successful seasons.
- Kudos to our Seussical crew on a great round of performances of talent and entertainment, highlighting our amazing theater and dance students!
- Thank you to Mrs. Jensen and her team for putting on this past week's College Awareness Week, bringing various Utah colleges to our campus to meet with our Seniors.
Please continue to have your students who are struggling in their classes visit us on Fridays from 8-10am for extra support. We have seen much success with students who take advantage of this opportunity.
We also want to remind you of the benefits of regular school attendance. Students earn better grades, learn more life skills, and stay eligible to take advantage of privileges such as going to dances, field trips for good attendance, and the ability to be in good standing for things like walking at graduation if they come to school. Students with high numbers of unexcused absences or tardies will not be able to take advantage of the above.
We encourage you to attend Fall Sing tonight and tomorrow night in our Junior High School Auditorium. And we encourage everyone to vote next week! We can make an impact on our society and nation by exercising our democratic right to vote and make our voices heard.
Thank you,
Principal KuhnzThis week at ALA
