Trojan Times Elementary Update
For the week of October 23rd-27th
Take a Stand
Below is the message I shared with our students on Friday morning:
WEEKLY RECAP
Another week is complete! Pictured to the right you can see the winners of the fire escape drawing for a free bike. Thank you to the fire department for their generosity! They volunteered their time to talk with our PK-3rd grade students and donated these bikes that two lucky students were drawn to win.
While it was only a four day week with students, it felt like we had a lot going on! We finished our week on Thursday with a Pep Rally to celebrate our fall teams and their successes. It was fun to celebrate the hard work of XC, Competitive Cheer, All-State Choir, Boys' Golf, VB, and Football. This pep rally was very fitting for our elementary students because it served as a great reminder for them on the importance of following your passion. We were also able to remind them of the importance of practice in order to develop that passion. It was an excellent way to end our week.
I had the pleasure of seeing a variety of learning tasks take place this week. Specifically, I spent time with 5th graders and helped them review their math skills for an upcoming test, and observed them work with partners to deepen their understanding of their skills. I watched preschool students complete a fun science experiment. I enjoyed seeing 5th grade buddies work with begindergarten to help them review their reading skills. Finally, I finished up my week taking in some second grade math. It was enjoyable to sit in on their class reviewing and learning new math skills as well.
In closing, it was a great week at PES. Temperatures do continue to drop, so please make sure you are sending coat, hat, and gloves with your kids. If it gets warm enough, we can always leave a coat inside, but if we don't have a coat along; it's difficult to outfit everyone with a coat or sweatshirt. Thank you for your help and support with the changing weather.
