Principal's Update
Hello Leopard Families-
We hope that you had a relaxing and fun weekend with your family!
PTA Update:
Thank you to our fabulous PTA for hosting our second movie night of the year! The food from Crepe Crazy and Gelu was delicious and families enjoyed watching Disney's Luca.
Please plan to join us on Wednesday, March 27 from 6:30-7:30 for our next PTA meeting. We will be discussing what to expect for the STAAR test and voting for our new Executive Board Members.
It's not too late to show your support for all Leopards by joining the PTA! Use this link to find out more information!
Early Pick-Up Reminders:
We kindly request that when planning to pick up your child early, please plan to do so by 2:00 pm.
Reminders for Front Arrival Procedures:
Thank you to our England Community for collaborating with us to refine our arrival processes to create a safe and efficient environment for our Leopards. We appreciate your partnership and support!
- The doors to the school open at 7:15 AM. Please do not drop off your child before 7:10 AM, as this presents a safety concern for your child.
- After you drop your child off, please exit the drop-off lane.
- As soon as you enter the parking lot, please have your child get ready to exit the car with their school materials in hand.
- When you reach the drop-off lane, please slowly pull all the way to the end.
- If you are utilizing our drop-off lane the only people that should be exiting the vehicle at any time are Elsa England students.
- Staff members are present to monitor student safety. Please work with your child to open their door independently as we do not have enough staff available to accommodate opening each car door.
- Kindergarten through 5th grade students are expected to exit the car independently. If your child needs help exiting the car please ask your teacher for a needs assistance sign. Pre-Kindergarten will all have access to a needs assistance sign. Please utilize the assistance needed zone at the very end of the car rider drop-off lane if help is needed. (Assistance Needed Zone will only be available at the front of the school.)
- Do not exit your vehicle while in the drop-off lane.
- In front of the school is a red fire lane, and it is illegal to park here. It also creates a safety hazard for the families who are trying to follow the law and safely exit our parking lot.
- If walking to the school, utilize the sidewalks on both sides of the school. Do not walk across the parking lot and driving lanes, as this area is heavy with traffic and is not safe for pedestrians.
Solar Eclipse:
We are looking forward to this wonderful event for our campus!
All students must have a signed permission slip to be able to join their friends and teachers outside for the big event. We request that all students have a form completed (there is an option to decline to participate). Please plan to complete this form by April 5th.
England Eclipse Viewing Permission Form
All students and staff who will be watching the eclipse will receive viewing glasses the day of the event. We’ll have additional staff on hand to ensure our students remain safe while they’re outside. We’ll also block off our parking lot after arrival in the morning to ensure that community members are not using our space during the event. We plan to view this event from our track from 1:20-2:00.
Teachers and staff will have discussed with their students the expectations for the day, including behavior and safety guidance while the eclipse is happening. Please reinforce with your children the importance of following these guidelines. We want to be sure we have a fun and exciting day and that students remember to participate safely.
Please reach out to me with any questions or feedback.
Inclement Weather Dismissal:
With rainy weather does come potential changes in dismissal. We would like to share what that entails so that you know what to expect when the time comes.
- We will follow our Inclement Weather Dismissal processes if there is lightning or a heavy thunderstorm.
- When there will be a change, our goal for is for communication to go out to families by 2:30, if not earlier.
- There will be no change in dismissal for daycare or bus riders.
- During Inclement Weather Dismissal, we will not release students as walkers. They will wait in the building with car riders. (PreK-1 in the back of the school, 2-5 in the front of the school. Older siblings will join younger siblings in their location.) FAC and FCC dismissal will remain the same.
- Please plan to use your vehicle to pick up your child.
- We will release car riders as quickly as possible. If there are parents/guardians that walk up, please anticipate and plan for waiting for your child a little longer as we will first accommodate getting students to their vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient flow of traffic.
- Please make sure that you have your student’s name card visible. (If you need a name card, please email your child’s teacher.)
- Please be prepared for dismissal to take longer on these days. Your patience and support are greatly appreciated.
Field Day- Thursday, March 27:
Our coaches have been hard at work preparing for Field Day! Our P.E. department has sent out details and a Sign Up Genius to volunteer. Classroom teachers have sent out an RSVP form so that we can prepare by printing visitor badges to expedite the sign-in process on the day of the event. As a reminder, all visitors must have an ID. Outside students, siblings, or extended family members are not permitted during Field Day.
We look forward to a week of learning and fun with our Leopards!
In partnership,
Krystall Williams
