Spring Sports Highlights
Track and Field - Academic All-STATE, School Records, and State Placers
This spring has seen many school records broken and athletes placing at the state meet. Harriet Roberts set a new school record in the 400m dash and placed 7th at the state meet. Kaliah Chronister (won the Long Jump and 300 Intermediate Hurdles at the Pacific League Championships) while placing 10th at the state meet.
Senior Matthew Avalos broke records in the 100, 200, and 4x100m and was named Pacific League Track Athlete of the Year. Sophomore Mekhi Perry set the school record in the 400m dash and placed 8th at the state meet. Other school records were set in the boys 4x100 and 4x200 by Mekhi Perry, Saul Hernandez, James Aboagye, and Matthew Avalos.
Mekhi, Saul, Jayden Johnson, and Gavin Secrest also set the new school record in the 4x400 at the OSAA state meet.
The Girls Track Team earned Academic ALL-STATE with a 3.90 Cumulative GPA which ranked #3 in the entire state. The Boys Track Team also earned Academic ALL-STATE with a 3.58 GPA which ranked #4 in the entire state. Congrats.
Baseball - Academic All-STATE, All-League Honors, and Play-offs
The team earned a 3.51 GPA which ranked #17 in the state and they earned a play-off spot this year winning more games in the 6A division in school history. Congratulations to 1st team Pacific League players: Tanner Steinbach, Ty Sheldon, Reid Linkmeier, Ben James and Honorable mention players: Adam Zehr and Erik Peterson.
Girls Golf - Academic All-STATE and State Championships
Ranked #5 in the State 3.94 GPA for the team and Congratulations to Mia Carey for advancing to the OSAA State Championships.
Boys Lacrosse - Advanced to the second round the OHSLA playoffs with a big 12-11 win over Oregon City last week. They play #4 Lake Oswego Tuesday night.

Congrats to Jared Lim
Liberty High School senior Jared Lim represented HSD and Team Oregon at Regeneron’s International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, California the week of May 12-17, 2024.
His project, Connexelerator, took first place in the Computer Science and Robotics category at Intel’s Beaverton-Hillsboro Science Expo in March, which both qualified him for the Northwest Science Expo on April 5, and earned him a trip to ISEF. There, he competed with over 1700 of the best researchers in the world and won the Shanghai Youth Science Education Award.
Finishing Strong
As we begin to wrap up the 23-24 school year, we hope all of our students finish strong with attendance and grades. Please keep an eye on ParentVUE and reach out with any questions you might have. Thank you for your support.
Falcon Frenzy
On Friday, May 24th from 2:00-5:00 is our annual Falcon Frenzy. Busses will be on regular schedule, picking students at 3:30. If your student is planning to leave campus at 2:00. They must check out and have permission. Please reach out with any questions.
SEED Survey
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) has instructed school districts in Oregon to administer a new survey to students in grades 3 -11. The survey was developed by ODE and is named SEED Survey, which stands for Student Educational Equity Development Survey. The survey will help ODE gather information about the educational experiences of students in Oregon. This information will help ODE to develop appropriate resources and supports for districts in Oregon, and better target those resources where they are most needed.
Students at LHS will take the survey on Monday, June 9th during advisory.

Important Reminders - FOR WEEK 14
A new Draft of the Walk List will be posted on Wednesday, May 15th.
The Senior Awards List is be posted. For students earning a Senior Award, our celebration will take place on Tuesday, June 4th at 7pm. A letter about Senior Awards Night is being sent home this week and there will be an informational meeting on May 20th for all awards recipients.
Senior Support Day - May 18th
Seniors - join us in 165 on Saturday from 8am to 11am to work on your senior project or any other assignments that you need to complete!
Senior Exhibition Night - Thursday, May 23rd
- Attendance is Mandatory for ALL Seniors
Seniors will be dismissed at 2pm to set up with Senior Project. Underclassmen will tour projects from 2:30 to 3:30pm.
All Seniors need to return to LHS on May 23rd between 5:30-5:45pm.
Seniors will remain at their station from 5:45pm until 8:00pm. (restroom breaks as needed)
Dress nicely and be professional!
Senior Academic Certification Day - May 31st
All Seniors who want to participate in the June 8th ceremony must be passing all required classes, completed their senior project, and have recovered any courses in Academic Options by MAY 31ST. This is not the last day to turn in assignments but the day when teachers will have assignments graded to determine if a student has demonstrated the learning for the course. Please follow due dates established by your teacher.

- UNCF Portfolio Project - Now Accepting Applications; Open ro rising juniors and seniors - Portfolio Project is a FREE 14-week program through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to help students with the college and scholarship application process. This program is intended for students to complete a 2-year cycle, first as a junior and again their senior year to revamp and enhance the work done their junior year. Portfolio Project also comes with some additional perks! There is no deadline to apply; however, spots are available on a first come first serve basis.
