Message from Principal Haugens
Red Ribbon Week: To promote Red Ribbon Week 2022 (October 24-28) DuJarin will be having a SPIRIT Week! Besides the spirit week, Mr. Haugens will share some tips, strategies and pointers to help students say NO to drugs and peer pressure.
Tip(s) of the day
Monday: Steer Clear & Make An Excuse
Tuesday: Broken Record & Say No!
Wednesday: Ignore & A Better Idea
Thursday: State The Facts & Reverse The Pressure
Friday: Walk Away
Early Release Day: Friday is an Early Release Day for students in 1st - 5th grade. Students will be released from school at 1:40 pm.
Up & Down Temperatures: We had some cold weather this week, but temps are looking good for Friday and the weekend. As we move into cooler weather, please remind students to dress appropriately. We want students to feel comfortable when they are outside at recess. It might be a good idea to keep a sweatshirt or light jacket at school to put on for recess. Students go outside for recess when the temperature is 10 degrees or above (including wind chill).
Community Coffee: Dr. Bartelt is hosing a community coffee on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 8:00 am - 9:30 am in the DuJardin Elementary School gym. Feel free to come and enjoy coffee & conversation with the superintendent of the Bloomingdale School District.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Click here to sign up for a conference.
Original Art Works: Students will come home with their Original Arrworks Fundraiser packets tomorrow. Orders and payment are due by November 2nd.
Halloween: Students will participate in an outdoor Halloween parade (weather permitting) and PTO classroom parties on Monday, October 31st. Students should bring their Halloween costume to school to change into before the parade & classroom parties. Students will not be able to go home during the lunch hour and change into their costumes. We expect students will be able to change into their costumes in the classroom. Please help students select a costume that can easily be placed on over the clothes they wear for school. As always, we ask students to keep any costume accessories that depict violence at home (guns, swords, knives, etc.). Kindergarten students are the only grade level able to wear their costumes to school.
Halloween Goodie Bags: Students are able to bring a goodie bag to share with classmates, as long as the goodie bag does not include food items. We ask that there be enough goodie bags for all students in the classroom and individually wrapped.
Food at the Halloween Party: Please contact the nurse at lmills@sd13.org if your child suffers from food allergies. The upcoming Halloween Party will have food and we want to make sure items are safe for all students in the school. The school needs to be aware of food allergies to prevent and respond to any reaction. We also ask that you communicate any food allergies to the classroom teacher.
All parents are welcome to attend the outdoor parade.
Veterans Information
Calling on ALL Veterans! DuJardin School will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration on Friday, November 11th between 12:15-2:00 p.m. ALL Veterans are invited to join 4th and 5th grade students for a luncheon followed by a hallway appreciation parade and then a Q & A session in various classrooms (3rd-5th grades). Lead Like a Jaguar
At DuJardin, we want students to become leaders who model a positive attitude (growth mindset), set and achieve positive goals, understand and manage emotions, show empathy for others, and make responsible decisions (solve problems). Teachers will be using the Second Step curriculum & other resources to help ensure our students #LeadLikeJaguars.
Focus for October 11th - December 12th: Emotional Management: Students learn how to build their emotion vocabularies, practice identifying their own and others’ emotions, and recognize the importance of labeling and managing emotions.

Message from Nurse Mills
Please contact the nurse at lmills@sd13.org if your child suffers from allergies, asthma or any other health issue. We do have events where food may be available to students. The school needs to be aware of food allergies to prevent and respond to any reaction. Your communication will help us better support your children.
If you chose to have your child tested for COVID while here at school a NEW consent form for this year must be filled out. Consent Form for Minor
