Dear Emerson Middle School Families,
We wanted to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who attended our Open House. Your presence was invaluable as we continue to partner with you and welcome you into the Emerson community. This evening also provided an opportunity to meet your child's classroom teacher.
A special thank you to our PTSA for providing the delicious cake and brownies that made the evening even more enjoyable. We also appreciate the valuable resources and information shared by the representatives from Save Our Youth. If your family is in need of assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. We have a wealth of resources available and can help guide you through the process.
As we enter week three, we're excited to see your children thriving in their new environment. Next week will mark our first full week of classes, and we'll continue with our iReady testing moving into their ELA classes.

- Please partner with us by reminding students that cell phones and electronics should be "AWAY FOR THE DAY"!
- All students must keep backpacks in their lockers. Small drawstring bags and purses may be carried throughout the day.
- We do not allow Hats and/or Hoodies to be worn during the school day.

Dear Parents of students with medical needs,
In planning for the upcoming year, I wanted to remind you to notify the school of any health care needs that your student may have. If your student has a medical condition including a severe allergy, asthma, diabetes, or epilepsy an Individualized Health Care Plan (attached below) needs to be updated annually by your physician to identify what actions need to be taken should an emergency situation arise.
In addition, if your student requires medication at school for any reason, please complete the attached Medication Authorization Form with your physician and return it with the medication to the main office ASAP.
**If your child needs more than one medication we need a Medication Authorization Form completed for each medication provided to the school.**

Please check with your family doctor to make sure that your student is up to date on their immunizations. Letters are in the mail for those students who are not shown as complete in the Michigan Immunization Registry.
Livonia Public Schools typically sets an Exclusion Date for mid October - this means that all students who are not fully vaccinated or waivered by then will be excluded from coming to school.
Student Schedules and Locker Combinations
Student schedules and locker combinations are now available on Parent and Student Connect.
In order to see a student's locker combination, you must click the "Enrollment" section and click on the lock icon. Look for the pop up window with the combination.
Starting on Tuesday, we will have only 3 lunch periods (A, B or C) each day. A student's lunch is assigned by their 4th hour teacher. There will be an A,B or C next to their 4th hour teacher's room number.
EX: 4C means Room 4 and C lunch.
Unless there is a mistake on a student's schedule (e.g., two math classes, a period without an assigned course, etc.), we are NOT changing students' schedules at this time.
If there is a mistake, students should sign up to see their counselors, and they will call them down once school has started.
