TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS CHRONICLE
VOL 6 ISSUE 27
PRINCIPAL CORNER
Dear OSES Families,
As we approach daylight saving time, we want to ensure a smooth transition for our students. On Sunday, March 10, clocks will “spring forward” by one hour. Here are some tips to help your family adjust:
Gradual Adjustment: Start adjusting your child’s bedtime 10 to 15 minutes earlier each night in the days leading up to the time change. This gradual shift can mitigate the shock to their system when we lose an hour of sleep.
Embrace the Light: With longer daylight hours, encourage your children to spend more time outdoors. Natural light exposure helps regulate their sleep-wake cycle.
Screen Time: Cut off screen time at least an hour before bedtime. The light from screens disrupts melatonin production, affecting sleep quality.
Remember that it may take up to a week for children to fully adjust to the time difference. Be patient and consistent with their sleep routines. Thank you for your cooperation, and let’s make this transition as smooth as possible for our little ones!

FIRST
Vancol
It has been an amazing week in First Grade for Read Across America week! We had Mystery Readers, including Ms. Carter in Ms. Keene's class! A guest librarian, Ms. Sullivan, came and read with the students, complete with props for the students and voices for each character. Students also got to read with third-grade reading partners, making new friendships and hearing new and familiar stories. To wrap up the week, guest author Adrienne Romberger presented her book, Ticket to Space, to the students. Ms. Romberger's book has even been read aloud in space by astronauts! The kids had a 'blast,' and they are looking forward to our next themed week with fun dress-downs and events!
*If you would like to purchase a signed edition of Ms. Romberger's book, email Mrs. Vancol at Leigh.Vancol@orlandoscience.org and she will put you in contact with the author.
SECOND
Sanico
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Singleton and the rest of the admin for supporting my class all the time to being a part of my student's excitement and happiness.
Today, we had so much fun Friday because we celebrated our class success for reaching our AR goal for the month of February. My students are ecstatic receiving their certificate, watch a movie and the best part is eating together with friends, it is the best experience for them to socialize with classmates and share laughter. I believe that my class will continue to grow, strive hard for success, fail to learn but most of all they show enthusiasm to reach for their stars.
To parents, thank you so much for your support not just to me but to your kids, having a strong support system from you help my student's success, and for the blessings that you have shared today to my students for sure our mighty creator will bless you a thousand folds.
Reading Buddies
Ms. Coy and MacAllister's classes reading to each other.
Merks and Yeaman
Ms. Merks class had the opportunity to aim and launch rockets on the field today as part of their Space section of science. Ms. Yeaman's class also were in attendance to see the launch happen.

From taking our books outside, listening to a library during Storytime, buddy reading with 1st grade, and even getting cozy in our PJs while reading our favorite stories. Third grade took Read Across America week to an extra fun level.

Hello! We have been very busy learning about honesty- what it means and why it is important! Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. The Commendation Store is helping motivate students at school to follow our core values, including ownership for my actions (honesty). Please use this link if you’d like to help donate items for the store! I would honestly be so appreciative!
Below are ways that you can help your child continue to learn about honesty by reading about it and practicing it!
Read About It! Here are some books to help you learn more about honesty:
•Edward Fudwumper Fibbed Big by Berkeley Breathead
•Sam Tells Stories by Thierry Robberecht
•Liar, Liar Pants on Fire by Diane de Groat
Practice It! Help your kids learn the difference between a truth and a lie with this simple game. You and your child take turns saying statements and the other person has to decide if it is a truth or a lie. A great game to play in the car or while you are waiting.
I hope to see you at the Smile Mile! Have a great weekend!
