GETC Newsletter ABYPU/SS Dept. Win/Spr/Summer 2024
SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT:
GETC Children's Sunday School and ABYPU Depts. working together!
Greetings Sunday School families!
2024 has been a year of collaboration, engagement and connection. The name of our newsletter has changed to United we Stand! as it will feature articles from Sunday School and ABYPU activities. We are so very elated to have our ABYPU Youth Dept. president, Bro. Mike Washington, and staff collaborate with the Sunday School as most of our students are involved in both auxilliaries.
The youth have been actively engaged in monthly programs and games. Also our youth choir has sung during Sunday morning worship services and we couldn't be happier for them!
To everyone who has supported our youth whether it was with your finances, your attendance at their programs, or if you have prayed for us-thank you from the bottom of my heart. We couldn't have done it without you!!!

LEARNING THE WORDS OF PRAYER
ABYPU on the move!
Our Armor Bearers Young Peoples’ Union (“ABYPU”) Department has been restored
and active since the beginning of this year. We began the year learning the history and the
purpose of ABYPU. ABYPU was founded in Harlem, New York at Refuge Temple Church under
the founder of The Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Bishop RC Lawson. ABYPU is designed
for kids, teens, and young adults ranging from 5-35 years of age. In addition to learning the
history, our ABYPU leaders, have implemented a theme with a rigorous curriculum which
includes learning biblical stories and doctrine though reading the scriptures, games, activities,
songs, and vacation bible school.
Our theme for 2024 is, “ We Are In Hot Pursuit For Christ.” This theme derives from
Philippians 2:16 which says, “holding forth the word of life that I may rejoice in the day of Christ,
that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” With this theme and verse in mind at our
first ABYPU program, our ABYPU leaders disguised themselves as Avengers For Christ to
display the weapons that God gives each individual to live their life for him and resist the devil.
Our ABYPU leaders have continued to stress the importance of spiritual warfare and faith
through various biblical stories including The Day Of Pentecost, Samuel, Noah, and Job.
Additionally, the ABYPU leaders have taught the children through songs. These songs
have included A Very Big God, Jesus Loves Me This I Know, and Wonderful Is Your Name. The
ABYPU Department has gained some momentum since the beginning of the year and hope to
keep the ball rolling as the end of 2024 approaches. Stay tuned!

Baptism
We praise God for Sis Hailee McNight who was invited to church by Sis. Jayla Morris. She attended Sunday School and Morning Worship. In February she was baptized in Jesus' Name. We thank God for you!
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 5:10 NIV
ABYPU Fundraisers
ABYPU has made great strides in 2024. We began the year holding numerous
fundraisers to raise funds for the youth including a car wash, pretzel fundraiser, and the
colorful and tasteful lemonade drinks. It’s an amazing thing to see the youth put forth
such effort and creativity to showcase their talents and motivation. To see the thought-
out signs and cups for the pretzels and the side condiments. It was presented well and
very tasteful. The car wash was a lot of fun on such a hot day. It was beautiful seeing
the youth work together and come up with their own plan, while cars were lining up to
be washed. Finally, the lemonade drinks were such a nice turn out. Such fruity bright
and colorful drinks. You would have thought they were made from Starbucks
themselves! It was a raving hit, the youth made almost 200 drinks and every
drink was sold at the concert. They accompanied the drinks with cookies and brownies.
We sold items upstairs and downstairs with a clever selling strategy. The Youth is really
putting a stamp on their presence. They are letting us know they are here and willing to
work for the Lord. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them and the great
ideas they have. We pray that God keeps on blessing them in their endeavors.

BACK TO SCHOOL COMMUNITY BBQ!
On Saturday, August 24th GETC held their annual Community Back to school BBQ. We enjoyed free BBQ, (thank you chef Andrew Jackson), and we gave out free bookbags, school supplies, and books to the surrounding community and the children enjoyed games as well as a bouncy house. Spearheaded by Sis. Lisa Morris, she said, "I want to thank everyone who suported us. This is what it's all about,
giving back to our community so that we can be a light to our community. We've given out a lot of bookbags, we've fed a lot of people; we have a deeper mesage to give to the world and that is to be ready when Jesus comes back." We were also honored to have recording artist, Minister Charles Fears perform some of his songs and minister to all those present. To hear his "story", find him on FB-Charles Fears.
Bucket game-another huge success!
