Warmer Weather Attire
Please send your child in clothing that is designed for cool mornings and warmer afternoons. Please refrain from flip flop sandals as they are a safety hazard on our play equipment. When the temperature is less than 42°, a jacket/sweatshirt is required at school.
School Absences
Remember to call the school when your child will be absent for any reason. The office number is 323-4400. If your child rides the bus, you also need to call transportation at 323-4500.
Bus Reminder
If your child rides the bus, please be waiting to receive them. This will help reduce the time children are having to ride on the route they are assigned. Have any questions? Please refer to the BECEP Transportation Handbook.
“Slide into Summer” Family Night
Families from all of BECEP’s programs are invited to attend the end of the year “Slide into Summer” Family Night on Thursday, May 16th. The event will be held at Sertoma Park (near the Dakota Zoo) at the Super Slide Amusement Park. There will be a picnic at shelter #6 , from 5-6pm. Then families can enjoy the rides at the Super Slide Amusement Park from 5:30pm-8pm for FREE! Come join the FUN!
BPS Illness Guidelines
To return to school after illness your child must:
✓ Be without vomiting or diarrhea for 16 hours
✓ Be without an uncontrolled or persistent cough
✓ Have an oral temperature less than 100.4 degrees for 24 hours without the use of medication
✓ Feel well enough to take part in the usual school day
BECEP Community Friends 2024-2025
Community Friends Program at BECEP
BECEP has openings for 4-year-olds in the Community Friends program for the 2024-2025
school year. This is a tuition-based, ½ day preschool program, for students who demonstrate age-appropriate skills. Tuition costs are $150/month for 4 half days a week and $75/month for 2 half days a week. Please call BECEP at 701-323-4400 to schedule a screening.
Play Literacy Games Together
There are many fun and educational literacy games that you can play with your child to help them develop language and literacy skills. For example, you can try an "I Spy" game where you take turns finding objects that start with certain letters. You can also play "Word Ladder" where you change one word into another by adding, subtracting, or changing just one letter at a time (e.g., "cat" becomes "bat" becomes "rat").
Head Start Re-Enrollments
If your child is eligible to return to Head Start in the 24-25 school year, re-enrollments will begin in April. Your Head Start Family Advocate will reach out to you to schedule a meeting time.
Reminder, be sure your child’s dental and physical exams have been completed for this school year and the information has been turned into Nurse Rhonda. If you have any questions regarding these exams, please reach out to Rhonda at 323-4432.
BECEP Kindess Cards and Kindness Parties
BECEP @ Richholt staff gave out an astounding 920 Kindness Cards to our students in April and 12 parties were held as classrooms met their goal.
We are so proud of our students for being SAFE, KIND, and HELPFUL!

Safety Village is a preschool safety education program that teaches children home, car, pedestrian, bike, fire and other safety topics.
