Dr. Barker's Weekly Report 9.08.24
9/08/24 - Volume 6, Issue 4
Dr. Barker's Message
Good Evening Everyone!
The weeks are already beginning to fly by! I want to thank all the parents who were able to join us this past Thursday for Back to School Night, as well as our Home and School Association for providing refreshments, and all of the vendors who made themselves available for questions. We had a wonderful turnout and it was exciting to share the new facilities with our parent community.
Students - This week we will begin opening Lunch & Learn to all 10-12 grade students for the entire hour. Freshmen have three remaining days of Peer Mentorship training with our upper classmen and will then join the rest of the building on Thursday and Friday for the entirety of the Lunch & Learn period.
Additionally, Act 10 Forms must be completed by all juniors and seniors this Friday, September 13th. For more information, please see the Whippet News section below.
Finally, make sure to check out the Upcoming College Visits section. Beginning on Monday, September 16th multiple colleges will be visiting WEST each day throughout the fall. Plan ahead and make sure you take advantage of the opportunity to meet with the admission representatives, learn more about the admissions process, and begin to find the school that will be the right fit for you.
Have a great week WEST!
Kurt Barker, Ed.D.
Principal, DHS WEST

We continue to work with the contractors to complete the final portions of the project and we look forward to wrapping up punch list items by the end of the month. Once everything is complete we plan to hold an open house to welcome the community to come see the finished project. Please look for more information on this open house opportunity in the early part of October.
