BOLDT MAVERICK MESSENGER
December 9-13, 2024 (Parent Newsletter)
Greetings from Principal Siller
Our students and staff recently celebrated an excellent week of learning and enjoyed our Boldt Winter countdown. Additionally, our newsletter includes a Christmas countdown for families to use while planning with their children. Celebrating with our wonderful students during this festive season has been a joy.
Our students enjoyed listening to the Harlan High School Holiday Steel Band and Harlan Orchestra Tour in our gym this past Monday and Thursday. Their smiles and joy as they sang along to their favorite holiday tunes were truly heartwarming. We hope to continue this lovely tradition in the upcoming holiday season. A special thank you to Mrs. Thurmon for organizing the performances for our outstanding students and to our Rotation Specialist and teachers who contributed to the event.
Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 17th, for our Boldt Fine Arts Department's “Winter Fine Arts Night.” More details are available in our newsletter. After all, there is SNOW place like Boldt!
There is so much fun ahead! Join the Boldt Maverick Minions for a holiday filled with laughter, snowball fights, and festive mischief! ☃️🍌🎅
Wishing you a week filled with BLESSINGS and BEAUTIFUL memories.
Mrs. Rosie Siller, Principal

VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS
VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS
We love having parent volunteers, and helpers volunteer at campus events and helpers to prepare projects for our students. Each year any individual who is interested in volunteering, participating in field trips, chaperoning, or helping out at an event will need to fill out the volunteer background check form. These forms must be completed each year.
Please do not click on the "Update" button, but use the link provided to complete the forms fully: Here's the direct link: https://hrvolunteer.nisd.net/TempMod.nsf?Open
As you may know, last year, we experienced a long delay in clearances from our third-party vendor. By submitting checks early, volunteers can avoid the usual beginning-of-year delays and additional delays. Please take care of this now if there is any possibility that you may be on campus for extended periods of time, or participate in any of the campus events that are planned for this year.

SHARING THE ROAD WITH YOUNG PEDESTRIANS
According to research by the National Safety Council, most children who lose their lives in bus-related incidents are 4 to 7 years old and walking. They are hit by the bus or by a motorist illegally passing a stopped bus. A few precautions go a long way toward keeping children safe:
- Don't block the crosswalk when stopped at a red light or waiting to make a turn, forcing pedestrians to go around you; this could put them in the path of moving traffic
- In a school zone, when flashers are blinking, stop and yield to pedestrians crossing the crosswalk or intersection
- Always stop for a school patrol officer or crossing guard holding up a stop sign
- Take extra care to look out for children in school zones, near playgrounds and parks, and in all residential areas
- Don't honk or rev your engine to scare a pedestrian, even if you have the right of way
- Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians
- Always use extreme caution to avoid striking pedestrians wherever they may be, no matter who has the right of way.
Safety & Security
- Staff members must wear their badges at all times
- Exterior doors should never be left propped open
- Classroom doors should always remain locked and door magnet used
- All classrooms should have a black covering with velcro for the door window (if you do not please let the office know and we will provide you with one)
- If you find an exterior door unlocked please notify the office immediately
- If you see someone walking around without their badge, please remind them to put it on
- We must take care of each other
