IMPORTANT NEWS
3/24/25 Board Decision to relocate SEA
Eagles and Bulldogs,
The letter below was sent to all families this week following the Monday night board decision to relocate Southeast Academy to the JGHS campus.
So far, we have held a staff meeting to gather our certificated and classified staff's fears and hopes surrounding the decision, and MSgt. Schafer has met with our cadets as well.
I would like to emphasize that although the decision was made to relocate SEA, no other elements of the transition have been finalized, including the actual wing location of Southeast Academy. It is important that MSgt. Schafer and our cadets have an opportunity to consider the possible locations and determine which will best support the mission, operations, structure, and integrity of Southeast Academy.
There are a lot of emotions and opinions about this decision, and our goal, as we continue to collaboratively develop a transition plan and timeline is to gather our community's input into these plans. As we move forward together, you can expect opportunities to do just that.
In Partnership,
Dr. Jennifer Padilla
Principal, JGHS and Southeast Academy
John Glenn 5K April 12th
If you haven't signed up for the 5K yet, please be sure to do so by Monday 3/31 by 10:00am, to guarantee that your t-shirt will be available on the day of the event.
Emergency Drill Notification - April 2nd
On Wednesday, April 2nd, we will conduct an emergency drill that includes a lockdown scenario during 3rd period. During this drill, we will initiate our lockdown procedures using our Cisco phone system and 5-Star Students.
JGHS AMP - Hands on learning at America's Got Talent
On Friday, JGHS joined producers and artists at the season's final filming of this season's America's Got Talent. Students and staff traveled to Pasadena to witness the live taping and be part of the live studio audience. Not only was it a fun experience, it was very educational for our AMP Media Production scholars.
The show airs this summer and you can expect to see our Eagles on the screen!

ATHLETICS
Student Athlete Profile
Student Athlete: Cody Smith 10th grade
How long have you been playing Football?
This last season was my first season, so really just one year playing at Glenn. I played just kind of messing around but nothing formal before. However, I ended up playing corner and some free-safety as well. I also did special teams kick-off returns. I gotta say though free safety was my favorite position to play.
What is your favorite football memory so far ?
Probably our last game when we played Cerritos High School. I had some solid plays. Even though we lost, we still had a solid solid game. Also have to say, I really like our new football coach, coach Drummer. He is intense and we do a lot of group activities, so its been really fun.
What are your plans for after high school?
After high school I want to be a fire fighter. For college, I would like to go to The New Mexico Military Institute. Our Sargent Major from last year is currently attending there now.
Who is your favorite teacher?
Mr. Aponte is really nice, and puts in the time and effort to help me. Also have to mention Mr. Skipper because I love the student law course that he teaches.
