Greetings CHS Parents and Caregivers
MAAP Stars go to the Capitol
Our MAAP Stars instructor, Sarah Karau-Dauk, took five Central students to the State Capitol where they advocated for MAAP Stars and Alternative Programs in Minnesota. Students were able to meet with state representatives Nick Frentz, Erica Schwartz, and Rich Draheim and discuss how legislative policies impact education in Minnesota. Students were also able to sit in on the Minnesota Senate Energy Committee to see first hand how our representatives work together to make policy.
What does Title I Offer?
At Central High School, we benefit from a federally funded program called Title I. These funds help facilitate strong parent-teacher collaboration which is essential for our students' success. When parents and teachers work together, we create a powerful support system that enhances student learning and achievement. We encourage you to engage in open communication with your child’s teachers, participate in school events, and provide feedback on school programs. Your involvement not only helps us understand your child's unique needs but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility for their education.Together, we can help our students thrive academically and socially. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community!
Public Schools Week
Public Schools Week is February 24-28, 2025, which is the perfect time to celebrate! We are so proud of the teachers and staff at Central High School and the work they do every single day to educate our students
Here in Mankato Area Public Schools, there is so much to celebrate. From innovative learning opportunities that spark curiosity to successful teams and clubs that build leadership skills, our schools are filled with moments of pride that show up on the faces of our kids.
Public schools are strongest when they are supported by the communities they serve, and we are fortunate to have families like yours who care deeply about education. Your involvement—whether helping with homework, attending school events, or cheering on our students—makes a big difference.
Thank you for everything you do that supports your student(s) and the greater school community!
Student Survey
Students will be completing a survey during the month of March. This survey allows students to provide feedback relating to their experience within our school. CHS teachers and support staff use this data to improve their practice and identify strengths and challenges within their school. Here is a link to a letter that provides more details regarding the test as well as an opt out option.
Application for Educational Benefits (Free and Reduced Lunch Application)
Starting September 5, 2023, the state of Minnesota started to cover the cost of one breakfast meal and one lunch meal for every student. Due to this, many families have not seen the need to fill out the application for educational benefits form.
It is important that families continue to fill this form out each year. Our school receives additional funding when families qualify for these benefits. Additional funding means more materials more staff, and more resources to meet the needs of your students.
There are two ways to apply:
1. Print, fill out, and return this application to Central High School
2. You can also apply in the Infinite Campus Portal by clicking on the "More" tab and then the "Meal Benefits" tab.
Please consider filling out this application. Funds from these benefits support your child's education.
In Need of Winter Gear?
With winter in full swing, students are often in need of warmer clothing. CHS has jackets, hats, and gloves available for students. If your student is interested, direct them to our Social Worker, Kerrigan.
