A brief summary
~Voltaire was born on Nov. 24th 1964 and lived throughout his years until he died May 30th, 1778. He lived through multiple wars including French & American Revolution. Voltaire Was an Enlightenment Writer during his time. Two years later, in 1717, he returned to Paris, only to be arrested and exiled to the Bastille for a year. He was sent to the Bastille again in 1726, before being shipped off to England. In 1733, he fled to Lorraine, and in 1759, he wrote the satirical novella Candide. In 1778, Voltaire returned to Paris, where he died there on May 30 of that year.
Voltaire's Influence on Frankenstein: A Modern Promethius
~ Throughout his 83 years of life, Voltaire wrote numerous philosophical works, works in history, plays, and is considered as, next to Montesquieu, Locke, Rousseau and others, one of the greatest names of the French Enlightenment. He is known as a defender of religious freedom, free trade, civil liberties, and social reform. He was also fighting against the limitations of censorship, religious dogma, intolerance, and the institutions of his time. His works, and the works of fellow Enlightenment writers, influenced both the French and the American revolutions. Voltaire was an incredibly large figure as an enlightenment philosopher who had a huge amount of influence to those who followed and took to his ways. He also held a decent amount of influence in the production of Mary Shelley’s book, "Frankenstein." During his time as an enlightenment philosopher, he had been pushing for science and reform to be accepted by the general public. While Voltaire believed that science advancements and society’s rational improvements were good for humanity, Rousseau believed arts, sciences, society, and civilization in general had corrupted "The Natural Man". He believed that humanity had to return to its original condition the "Natural" landscape. In 1732 he produced Zare, one of his two best plays.
Nature VS Nurture
The Nature Versus Nurture Debate is about the relative importance of an individuals Innate natural senses versus their their personal experiences in determining individual differences in physical and behavioral traits from nurture is known as tabula rasa. In recent years, both types of factors have come to be recognized as playing very important and interactive roles in our development as human beings.
