SEL Spotlight: “Flight School” + Goal Setting for Spring Assessments
Next week, our 3rd–5th grade students will be reading Flight School by Lita Judge, a heartwarming story about a little penguin with a big dream—to fly! This story will help us explore important social-emotional themes like believing in yourself, setting goals, and never giving up.
As we prepare for the Spring STAR Reading and Math assessments and Aimsweb Oral Reading Fluency during the week of May 5, students will reflect on their Fall and Winter scores and set personal growth goals for this final testing window. We’ll be talking about how confidence and effort are key ingredients to success.
Thank you in advance for encouraging your child to do their best and reminding them that they’ve got the wings to soar!
Congratulations!
Tonight we get to celebrate Conley's winners for Distinguished Educator of the Year and Distinguished Employee of the year!
Congratulations to Shawn Nordeen, Educator of the Year!

Congratulations!
Congratulations to Jackie Moskal, Employee of the Year!
We are proud to recognize Mrs. Moskal (elementary supervisor) as this year’s Employee of the Year! Student Placement Form
2025-2026 School Year...DUE THURSDAY
FORM WILL CLOSE THURSDAY, MAY 1st! We will send a text alert on Thursday as a final reminder.
It is the time of year when the District 158 Elementary Schools begin to gather and organize information for classroom placements for the next school year. The following is the language in the student handbook that addresses student placement in District 158.
STUDENT PLACEMENT:
“Student placement is a function of building administration. Teachers work together with administration to place students in classrooms. Parents may provide written comments or information pertaining to their child’s learning needs by May 1st."
Please do not submit specific teacher names. We ask that learning characteristics of the child be the main focus of your request. Teachers do move grade levels, buildings, and districts so the characteristics are much more helpful. The final placement is at the discretion of building administration.
