Meadows Family News
May 2024
Dear Families,
Here we are at the end of what has been a great year at Meadows! This month and last students have gone on several field trips: Topeka Zoo, Ward Meade Park, Brown vs. Board Historical Site, Middle School visits, and the Stormont Vail Event Center Agricultural area for the Farm to Home event. They have had many wonderful real life experiences to add to the academic rigor they are building in the classrooms. We have completed our Kansas State Assessments and will receive the results soon. End of the year promotions and graduations are just around the corner. You will find all the details about these below. Our Spring Fling, that has been rescheduled for May 3, will be a Rockin' good time with our DJ dance party, food trucks, and raffle. We hope you come and enjoy celebrating a wonderful school year! Thank you to all those who volunteered and worked hand in hand with us at Sharefest this past Saturday to help beautify our school. Your sweat, hard work, and pride you take in Meadows is appreciated! We will celebrate our faithful teachers this month for Teacher Appreciation Week. Join us in thanking them for the efforts they put in to prepare and instruct your students. The 2024-25 Online Registration Process is open. Please complete the process online, sooner rather than later.
You will continue receiving my monthly newsletter highlighting all upcoming dates and events. It will also include reminders and important information. Please make sure to read through each newsletter so you stay informed!
Thank you for your continued support. You are an integral part of our team and we could not do this without you. Here's to another month of growth and success!
If you have further questions after reading this, please do not hesitate to reach out! We are here to serve you and your children.
"We can. We will. Watch Us!"

Raising Successful Kids
What successful parents do differently~
Parents who raise the strongest and most resilient kids create an environment that allows them to make mistakes and not fear failure.
You can still love the person, but you don’t love the action. When we’re able to clearly separate the two, a child doesn’t link their worth to their behavior, whether “good” or “bad.”
This doesn’t mean you can’t have expectations about your child’s behavior. You just have to be mindful about how you express those concerns. When a kid acts in ways that are inconsistent with our values or hopes, we still need to signal warmth even while expressing disappointment.
