As we near the end of the 2023-2024 academic year and families everywhere commemorate the various milestones from Kindergarten to high school graduations, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your support, contributions, and engagement in this year. As summer approaches, filled with promises of leisure and laid-back days, we hope you are preparing to unwind and enjoy its delights. Look out for our back-to-school edition of Celebrating Gifted in August!

EXPO of Excellence π 5th grade families
The Gifted & Talented Academy at Quail Valley Middle School is proud to announce the inaugural EXPO OF EXCELLENCE. All GT-identified 5th grade students and their families are encouraged to attend this exciting event at QVMS on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 6:30 pm. There will be performances, presentations, and interactive exhibits hosted by current GTA student leaders. This is an opportunity for students who have already committed to the academy to experience what is in store for your middle school years at the GTA as well as an opportunity for students who might still be interested in applying for the academy to learn more about it. For the first time in many years, the GTA waitlist has cleared early with a few roster spaces still open. Come join us for this exciting and fun-filled event to experience the unique opportunities provided by the GT Academy.

We have appreciated the dedication and talent of our gifted and talented students who participated in our Family Challenges this year! We recognize all our students who took on the challenges, showcasing their creativity, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for learning. Your contributions are valued and celebrated! The video submissions from the latest Family Challenge, the βSpring to Life" challenge are now posted! Thank you to all our families who participated in the Family Challenge opportunities this school year!

GTPAC Events for 2024-2025 πππ
We are pleased to announce the GTPAC is working on a year-long schedule of monthly Family/Parent activities for the 2024-25 school year. There will be social activities, community service events, and at least one guest speaker! The general yearly schedule will be shared in the August Back-to-School issue with specifics about the August, September and October events so that you may plan well in advance to join in the fun!

The votes are in!! Please help us in congratulating Kaylie Luo of Cornerstone Elementary and Angela Shou of Commonwealth Elementary for winning our Summer Camp T-shirt design contests!! Kaylie's and Angelaβs designs were selected by their summer camp peers as the desired design for this year's camp shirts. Thank you, Kaylie and Angela, for all your hard work and to everyone who submitted ideas and voted!

Icon of the Month - Rules πππ
The Rules icon implores learners to recognize both the stated and unstated rules of a topic. Rules can include such things as laws, requirements, norms, and hierarchies and can also ask students to consider consequences.

We would like to encourage you to continue visiting the 2024 District GT Showcase. The GT community has commented on the variety of topics and student enthusiasm shared in the videos. GT Learning Plan πππ
Final conferences to review the GT Learning Plan will be held May 1-12 for GT students. in grades 6-12. Parents may view their studentβs final GT Learning Plan on or after May 13. If you have questions about your childβs GT Learning Plan, please contact their GT Learning Plan Monitoring teacher.
GT Mentorship Showcase πππ
This year's showcase broke the attendance record! Thank you to the mentors, families, and friends who came out to support and celebrate the Class of 2024 and welcome the new Class of 2025. We we also able to collect and donate 25 board books to the Houston Methodist Hospital Sugar Land's Neonatal ICU!
