Testing Schedule
The upcoming school testing schedule is quickly approaching, so it's important for students to begin preparing now. Tests will cover key material from throughout the year, so reviewing notes, completing practice problems, and getting extra help if needed will be essential. Creating a study plan and setting aside regular time each day can make a big difference. Remember to get plenty of rest and stay organized to reduce stress and do your best on test days.

PTA Family Movie Night
PTA Family Movie Night will be Wednesday, April 16th, 2025 from 6:30-8:30 PM in the MBFFK8 School Gym (back of the school off Pennsylvania Ave). Entry is FREE!
During the event, the PTA will be selling tickets so you may purchase drinks and snacks. They will have popcorn, soda, water, juice, pizza, burgers, candy, and chips for sale.
Come join us for a family fun movie and a jolly good time!
Attendance Incentives
K-8 STUDENTS:
An Attendance Incentive is happening this week! We're excited to celebrate our students who SHOW UP and SHINE!
Students that attend school on-time and with perfect attendance this week (April 14th-17th) will be entered into a raffle for a surprise gift basket.
3 winners will be announced per grade level! Prizes will be distributed on Monday, April 21st.
So, students, make sure to come to school every day ready to learn! Not only does this help your performance and relationships in school, but now you might even win a prize because of it!

Parent School Climate Survey

The School Climate Surveys are an integral part of the district’s efforts to promote school improvement and educational accountability. School Climate Surveys of parents, students, and staff have been annually administered in the Miami-Dade County Public School district since the early 1990s. The purpose of these surveys is to gather information regarding what these groups think about the school and their perceptions concerning how the school can be improved.

Requirements:

Take Your Child To Work Day
On Thursday, April 24th, 2025 is Take A Child to Work Day and Beyond. Parents and/ or guardians of 6th-8th grade students may fill out a permission form to take their child to work for the full school-day.
"For A New Generation" is the 2025 theme for Take A Child to Work Day and Beyond:
>Junior Achievement (JA), a leader in preparing young people for work and life, has assumed leadership of the groundbreaking work readiness initiative started three decades ago by the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation.
>Since 1993, individuals, families, organizations, and workplaces have joined on this day to expand opportunities and to transform the lives of millions of youths around the world.
>By participating in Take a Child to Work Day and Beyond, students will connect with role models in diverse fields, gaining experiences that make their future goals feel attainable and exciting.
DEADLINE:
All permission forms must be completed and turned in to your child's homeroom teacher or the main office by Wednesday, April 23rd in order for their absence to be excused. Any forms received after April 23rd will NOT be accepted.

Get ready to embark on an exciting journey toward health, wellness, and fun! The MBFFK8 PTA Health and Wellness Program is proud to sponsor 12 weeks of dynamic sports clubs starting January 27, 2025, through April 14, 2025. Whether you’re passionate about soccer with Coach Castaño, volleyball with Coach Mendez, or basketball with Coach Rothschild, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Sessions are conveniently held after school on the school field and gym, making it easy to stay active, learn new skills, and make lifelong friends. Join us and make this season unforgettable!

LET'S GET YOUR CHILD A COMPUTER!
This notice applies to all the children in the school, Pre-K through 8.
Before we can issue your child a laptop for the 2024-25 school year, we need you to please
1) purchase $27 insurance in case the computer gets damaged
2) give us permission to entrust your child with a laptop.
You need to fill in two very simple online forms.
Before you begin, make sure you know your child's school I.D. number. (The online forms only accept 7-digit IDs. If your child has a 6-digit ID, no problem: just add a 0 to the front of the number.)
LAPTOPS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Should everybody get laptop insurance?
Yes. Please purchase $27 Dell / HP insurance.
Can I talk to someone if I need help purchasing insurance online?
You can call the insurance company, Securranty, at 832-304-2015.
Securranty says they have Spanish speakers available to help.
When do you distribute laptops?
We are currently distributing laptops to middle schoolers with insurance.
What about elementary school students?
Elementary students' laptops will be housed in carts in the classroom.
Elementary students may take laptops home to help with homework at their parents' request.
However, parents must guarantee that children will bring laptops back for classwork the following day;!
What happens if I do not purchase insurance?
Your child will be assessed a Technology Fee of $20 for the school year. This does NOT cover insurance!
Any loss / damage will result in a financial obligation placed on the students account, which will inhibit their receipt of a High School certificate.
How much does laptop loss / repair cost?
Without insurance, these could cost hundreds of dollars. With $27 insurance, they cost nothing.
