The Illinois State Board of Education has released the annual Illinois Report Card at www.illinoisreportcard.com You may find the Cowlishaw Report Card at here.

The Report Card contains school performance data from the 2023-24 school year.

Schools are more than test scores. They are a second home for students and staff, where we focus not only on academics but also on the whole child. Our goal is to provide every student with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in life and their chosen careers. By fostering strong family connections, building community, and preparing students for their next educational steps, we aim to create a supportive and thriving environment.

On our 2024 Report Card, we are proud that our students' growth in ELA and Math surpasses both the district and state average growth percentiles. This reflects strong scale score growth on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness.

While we celebrate these successes, we also recognize areas for improvement. We remain committed to continuous school improvement to provide the best possible support for all students.

One key part of the Report Card is the Annual Summative Designation, a federally required accountability category that measures how well schools meet the needs of all students using eight performance indicators. The "commendable" designation on the Illinois School Report Card reflects:

• No underperforming student groups (e.g., based on race, income, or disability).

• Strong overall performance, though not in the top 10% of schools (which would earn an "Exemplary" rating).

• Meeting or exceeding most accountability indicators, including academic growth, graduation rates, and progress in English language proficiency (if applicable).

This positive rating highlights solid performance while recognizing opportunities for growth to achieve "Exemplary" status.

Our Report Card is a chance to celebrate strengths and reflect on goals to ensure every student reaches their full potential. We believe all students can meet high expectations, and your partnership is essential to their success. Together, we can accomplish great things for our students.

Giftmart 2024 needs your help! Please consider donating a toy to assist under resourced families in Naperville. By invitation, parents and/or guardians are invited to the Giftmart Toyshop where they can purchase new toys for $2.00 per toy. 100% of the proceeds made from the sale of each toy will be donated back to each invited school to fund much needed resources. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy that is safe for children ages 6-12. No stuffed animals or board games, please. Both a Target and Amazon Gift Registry have been created or there will be a Giftmart Toy Box located inside of Metea and Waubonsie Valley High Schools, Granger, Crone, Gregor,y and Fischer Middle Schools, and in Brooks, Cowlishaw, Fry, Graham, Georgetown, Gombert, May Watts, McCarty, Owen, Patterson, Petterson, Welch, and Young Elementary Schools from November 11 – December 9. Cowlishaw Elementary School is thrilled to welcome back author, Vera Ahiyya, on Wednesday, December 4th! Vera will read aloud and engage students in collaborative conversations.
