Safe and Welcoming Schools for Every Student and Family
Dear CSD Students, Families and Community,
In the Centennial School District, we are committed to providing safe and welcoming school environments for every student and family, so our learners can thrive and fully engage in learning.
To demonstrate this commitment, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, our Board of Directors reaffirmed our commitment to providing safe and welcoming environments for all individuals with their adoption of a proclamation (found here) of the District and School Board’s support of each student and family in our community.
We acknowledge and honor that recent changes in federal government leadership bring concerns for some members of our community about how their own safety may be impacted, particularly for students and families who are immigrants and others in vulnerable communities. In addition, we know that potential implications of how immigration rules and laws will be enforced are a source of uncertainty or fear.
As part of our commitment to the safety and well-being of all members of our Centennial community, we want to provide you with clarity about what you can expect from our District as we move forward through this time of transition.
What You Can Expect:
We will continue to enroll and provide access to school for all students regardless of immigration status as protected by federal and state law.
We will train staff on District policies, procedures, and expectations related to immigration actions in our schools, including referring all immigration-related legal requests to the Superintendent’s office.
We will not ask about, or collect/maintain records of, student immigration status.
We will not provide information, access to school property beyond the front office, or assistance to federal immigration officials, unless legally required to do so.
We will not tolerate any discrimination or harassment on any basis protected by law, including but not limited to: an individual’s perceived or actual race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, marital status, age, mental or physical disability, pregnancy, familial status, economic status, or veterans’ status.

At this time, we encourage all families to make sure that their child’s school has accurate and up-to-date emergency contact information for all individuals authorized to pick up your child from school.
If your child feels worried or anxious, please let their teacher or school counselor know so we can offer support.
