Senior Mock Job Interviews
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, approximately 340 seniors completed their mock job interview. This program has been a valuable "real life" learning experience for Red Lion students for many, many years.
Overall, the students worked hard to prepare their cover letters, resumes and responses to interview questions. They also received valuable feedback for improvement in these areas. For the staff and students, there is plenty of behind the scenes preparations and teamwork leading up to the days of the interviews. Teachers, counselors and staff members provide instruction, support and encouragement for our students. Additionally, Red Lion Senior High and the seniors are grateful for all of the support provided by the parents and guardians.
Many of the volunteer interviewers have participated in the mock job interviews in the past and they look forward to returning each year. The volunteers are local business members, community leaders and often have a special connection with the Red Lion community. One highlight for this year's volunteers is that they received a small appreciation gift put together by our wonderful students in the life skills program. One of these gift items, was a super cool Red Lion logo drink coaster created by the students in our technology education department under the leadership of Mr. Andrew Downs!
Here are a few quotes from our volunteer interviewers regarding our students...
"This was my 5th time participating in this event. I am always amazed at the students that I encounter."
"The students were well-prepared and engaged."
"The students did a great job answering questions and going with the flow of the conversation."
"I have hope for the future, the students were awesome!"
"Most of the students conducted their interviews just as well as most adults I have interviewed."
"These students today were prepared."
"Great job Red Lion, your students are ahead of the rest."
Attention Athletes!
Congratulations!! If you are interested in earning your varsity jacket, you will need to participate in the “Quiet Dress-Up Day” and also perform community and athletic service projects. Once you have completed everything, you may order your varsity jacket.
Dress-up day will be held on Tuesday, November 26th. You will need to wear Red Lion gear supporting your athletic teams. Everyone will meet in the athletic center at 7:30 am – please report to first period and then to the Athletic Center. Please bring along your varsity letter (if you haven’t had your banquet, I have “RL” letters in my office). Any questions, please see Mr. Masser or Ms. Reinert, all requirements to earn your jacket will be discussed at the brief meeting. Thank you and Congratulations again!!

Pawsitive Pal of the Week!
Our Pawsitive Pal of the week is Mr. Ryan McCleary. Mr. McCleary has returned to the high school this year and is already making a profound impact on our students. As the Career Coordinator, he plays a pivotal role in guiding students toward their future careers by having our students engage in multiple activities to expose them to life after high school. This week, he organized mock job interviews, giving students hands-on experience by interviewing with community members and building their confidence as they plan for their futures. He has also been organizing field trips to introduce students to different career paths. We’re so glad to have him back and grateful for the positive energy he brings to our school. Thank you, Mr. McCleary!

Important Information
Information Regarding Good Standing Status
Attention Parents, Guardians and Students: We are continuing to monitor data to determine which students are in good standing and those that are not. If a student is not in good standing their privileges to the cafe will be revoked for one week. Grade and attendance reports are generated on Thursday mornings at 9am. Students and guardians will receive notification Thursday afternoon by email to notify them if they able to visit our wonderful cafe. Participation in the end of the marking period reward and other events can be determined by a student's good standing status. Please reach out to your assistant principal if you have any questions or concerns.
Criteria used to determine good standing:
1. Students must maintain passing grades (60% or higher for the marking period grade). Students are allowed to have one course grade lower than 60%.
2. Students must have 9 or fewer unexcused absences in the past two months.
3. Students must adhere to the student code of conduct as explained in the Student Handbook. Repeated or multiple minor infractions or serious violations result in being removed from good standing.
