The Wallin Way Weekly Newsletter
September 20, 2024
Good Evening K9 Families,
What a fantastic week it has been! We had a blast celebrating Spirit Week and seeing all the enthusiasm and school pride from our students. Alongside the fun, we also experienced some truly great learning opportunities, with students showing incredible dedication and growth throughout the week.
As we head into the rest of September, don’t forget that we are still collecting canned items for Hunger Action Awareness Month. Your donations will help support those in need within our community. More details about the collection and how you can participate can be found below.
Thank you for your continued support, and let’s keep the momentum going as we move into another great week of learning!

Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Morning Drop Off
We kindly ask that families do not park at Ira Jones when dropping off students. Please be sure to pull into the designated car line to ensure a safe and smooth drop-off process for everyone. Following this procedure helps keep traffic flowing and ensures the safety of all students.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please remember to turn off your car while waiting to pick up your student after school. Running cars pose a safety risk for students and teachers walking up and down the car lines, and it's also important to reduce the fumes in the air for everyone’s health. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and healthy!
September is Hunger Action Awareness Month!
District 202 is happy to once again participate in a consortium of local governmental entities to help combat hunger in the community in September, which is National Hunger Action Month!
To help support the local food pantries, the Village of Plainfield, C.W. Avery Family YMCA, Plainfield Area Public Library, Plainfield Fire Protection District, Plainfield Park District, Plainfield School District 202, and Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce are encouraging everyone to donate to the community food drive which benefits Bags of Hope, a private backpack food program, the Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry, and St. John Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
All of the food pantries would appreciate donations of non-perishable items including cereal; canned chicken and tuna; peanut butter and jelly; pasta and pasta sauce; flour/sugar; rice; canned fruits and vegetables; soups and ramen; macaroni & cheese; condiments; snacks (granola bars, fruit snacks, and cheese & crackers); and boxed potatoes. Personal hygiene products, baby items, household cleaning products, and paper products are also welcomed.
Donations will be accepted at the following locations through September 30:
