STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Trip to Corson's Inlet State Park
Silver Team science students explored our local coastal and salt marsh ecosystems by participating in field trips to Corson's Inlet State Park hosted by the Great Egg Harbor River Council and Watershed Association. Students learned about local flora and fauna, the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems, and the impact of human interactions with the environment. Several classes also conducted water quality testing back in the science lab with water samples from the field trip.
Math Jenga
Mrs. Hrabal's Algebra students enjoyed playing math jenga to review for their upcoming assessment in our new outdoor pavilion space.
Duck Eggs
Students in Mr. Zompa's science class incubated duck eggs, learning about fertilization, embryology, and development. Students followed the progress of the eggs as they developed and learned how to properly handle the ducklings once they hatched this week.
Debates in Spanish
8th Honors Spanish students had a debate about a chosen neighborhood in our Hispanic world by using an original map. Students presented their interpretation of their chosen community’s needs based on real facts.
Spring Orchestra Concert
This past Wednesday night the Fernwood orchestra teamed up with the Alder orchestra, to put on an incredible performance! Students played classical pieces such as Dance of the Tumblers from the Snow Maiden, Spring by Vivaldi, GPS! Which uses Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and a modern piece called Midnight Adventure. It was a real treat for students to finally perform the pieces they have worked on for the last 5 months. Congratulations to all!
