Biddeford Center of Technology
September 18, 2024
Dear Parents, Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year at the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology! We are excited to invite you to our Open House on September 26th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This event will give you the chance to meet your child’s teachers and explore the learning spaces they will be using this year.
Our school continues to expand, both in programs and staff, and we are thrilled that our new building is nearing completion. Although some unexpected delays prevented us from opening the building as scheduled, we are excited to announce that classes will begin this week in the new space. This state-of-the-art facility will house our new Culinary Arts and Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality programs, along with Athletic Training, EMT, Intro to Medical Science, and Plumbing programs.
At BRCOT, we pride ourselves on providing real-world learning experiences through academic and technical skill training. Our programs are designed to challenge students to problem-solve, apply theory to practice, and collaborate effectively. We encourage students to take full advantage of the opportunities available throughout the year.
Parents and guardians, your partnership in your child’s education is invaluable. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.
We’ll be sending out a monthly newsletter to keep you informed about school events and updates. You can also find additional information on our website at https://www.biddefordschools.me/o/brct, including our Student/Parent Handbook. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 207-282-1501.
We look forward to working with you and your child this year.
Sincerely,
Paulette Bonneau
Director, Biddeford Regional Center of Technology
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
- September 26: Open House 4:30-6:30 PM
- October 11th: No School-Teacher Professional Development Day
- October 14th: Holiday-No School
ATTENDANCE
To make the most of the unique learning experiences at BRCOT, it’s important that students attend every day, on time, and ready to learn. Our A.M. session runs from 8:30-10:40, and the P.M. session is from 12:20-2:25. Since many activities cannot be replicated, missing a class could mean missing important one-time events.
If your child will be absent, please notify us by calling BRCOT. Starting on September 30th, we will begin sending automated text messages and calls to parents/guardians if a student is absent without notification.
CELL PHONE POLICY
We would like to remind parents and students about the new cell phone policy. In the summer of 2024, the Biddeford School Committee passed Policy JICJ, which governs the use of cell phones and other electronic devices. This policy aligns with BRCOT’s established guidelines, as outlined in our Student/Parent Handbook.
At BRCOT, cell phones and other electronic devices, including smartwatches, must be turned off—not just placed in silent mode—during class time. Instructors may also require that devices be stored in designated classroom locations. Access to these devices during class may be allowed only for specific educational purposes.
