School Attendance Matters
BENEFITS of school attendance
We need your children here at school! Consistent school attendance provides many benefits for your child’s life, including:
Structure & Routine: When your child regularly engages in the same activities, they will be more likely to develop structure. This structure instills a sense of time management that will be useful in many avenues of their life.
Academics: Students who regularly attend class are more likely to achieve higher reading and math levels than students who don’t. Learners are more likely to keep up with daily assignments, develop stronger language and vocabulary skills, and be better prepared academically.
Social Skills: Children participate in many social situations that are vital for understanding the world around them. Socializing with peers helps them understand social cues, social etiquette, and how to express their thoughts in a constructive way.
The Osceola School District assists you with tracking your child’s attendance by sending notification letters when your child hits the thresholds of being absent 5 and 10 days. If your child hits the 10 day mark, we ask for a doctor's note for further absences. Our counselors work together with families to support students being in school. Every day counts!
The Osceola School District uses an efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrivals. This system reduces the time it takes to verify student attendance, making it easy for you to report your child's absence. Below is a link with information on reporting an absence.
