My Monochromatic Landscape
Hannah Picciano 2A. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Buxton
Elements and Principals
The element of art used in my painting is Color. I used Color to create the principal of design, Unity. Unity is made when you repeat any element throughout a work of art to give the artwork a sense of harmony. Repeating the color purple throughout my artwork makes my painting feel harmonious

Art & Design
The Cape Hatteras lighthouse was made in 1869-70, it was a sculpture made by some national park workers for sailors to see land and know where to go if there is bad weather or hard currents. It cost about $167,000 to make the final product. It was made out of sand stone, it stands about 90 feet tall with about 1,250,000 bricks.
Personal Response
I picked the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse because every 4 years my family has a huge family reunion and its over by the Cape Hatteras lighthouse so to me its a huge part of my summer,
Although i'm not an artist I am able to see the beauty in it, it was made because some nights the offshore currents flow in opposite directions, which can cause fog and rough currents and it would be hard to get back to shore for some sailors so at 9:00am-5:00pm the light goes on circling so the sailors can find the shore
