Westerner Upcoming Events
PSAT Tuesday!
PSAT is right around the corner, Westerners! On October 22nd, all 9th and 10th grade students will take the PSAT, as well as any Juniors who registered. Students will arrive at the normal 8:15 start time. Non-testing students who show up early may report to the cafeteria.
Be sure to get plenty of rest, bring your fully charged Chromebook, and come prepared. Students are encouraged to bring their own calculator although it is not required.
For seniors and juniors not taking the PSAT, the school day will begin at 11:55 for periods 5-8, with lunch at the normal time. Let's make it a great day!

Westerner Band Rocks Regionals!
Our amazing Westerner Band took home straight 1s at the Region 16 UIL Marching Evaluation Saturday! On to Area next weekend! These kids are performing the heck out of this show, and we canβt wait to see it again!
Tennis Wins Regional Quarterfinal!
Our Tennis team is on fire! Theyβve been unstoppable, winning all their recent tournaments and now securing the Regional Quarterfinal Championship with a 10-5 victory over Abilene High on Tuesday!
The Regional Tournament is next! Letβs keep that Westerner spirit strong and cheer them on!
NJROTC Places 2nd at Nimitz 5 Star Drill Meet
The Lubbock NJROTC Cadets had the opportunity to compete in the Nimitz 5 Star Drill Meet on Friday and Saturday in Irving. We are extremely proud of our Cadets as they represented LHS and West Texas with true Westerner GRIT. Our Cadets competed in a series of events ranging from Academic Exam in Naval Science, Physical Fitness, Armed Drill, and Color Guard. Our Armed Drill Team Placed Second overall and is building momentum as we aim to advance to nationals in the spring. Shout out to all the Cadets that competed, Great Job!
LHS Speech and Debate at the Guy P Yates Tournament
We want to give a huge congratulations to the LHS Speech and Debate team for their 3rd place finish at the Guy P Yates Tournament at West Texas A&M University. We had 11 individuals place in their individual events, with two students, Danelle McCourt and Alisha Farooq, finishing 1st overall!
LHS Golf takes 2nd at Palo Duro Canyon Tournament
Congrats to LHS Golf for taking 2nd place at the Palo Duro Canyon tournament! Well done, Westerners!
Mariachi Students Earn Regional Chairs
Shout out to our very own Mariachi students who earned a chair for the Region 16 Mariachi Ensemble!! They will preform a concert with the best mariachi students in the region this November.
