RCSD News
June 2024
Dear Rochester City School District Families,
As I write this letter, I am filled with gratitude for the time spent together, sadness to bid farewell, and hope for the bright future ahead. The RCSD has been home for many years. It is a family affair, as my wife is a teacher in the District. I will truly miss the connections with you and the important work our team does every day.
I want to express my sincere appreciation for your unwavering support throughout my tenure. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Superintendent, and I am immensely proud of the progress we have made together and the exciting changes ahead.
During my time in this role, we embarked on an ambitious journey of reconfiguration, redefining our strategic plan, and reinforcing our commitment to academic excellence. Through Invest in Tomorrow, the reconfiguration aims to ensure that every student receives the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. By strategically aligning our resources and programs, we will create a more streamlined and effective educational system that caters to the diverse interests of our students.
Our strategic plan will serve as a roadmap to fulfill our vision of activating the dreams and unlocking the potential in our students. At the heart lies our mission - cultivating a culture of academic excellence for all and a community of empathy, equity, and accountability that empowers students to succeed beyond graduation.
As we enter the last weeks of school, I congratulate our graduating seniors and wish everyone a successful end of the school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carmine Peluso
Superintendent of Schools

Amira is available to students by logging on to ROConnect using a computer or tablet. Amira helps facilitate meaningful data that teachers can share with parents. We hope you will take advantage of this valuable resource to support your children’s reading! Families can learn more at www.rcsdk12.org/amira.
The Summer Meals season begins in July! Kids 18 and under eat free at sites throughout the city. For information and locations, call 2-1-1 or visit SummerMealsRoc.org.
