December 2024
Principal Message
Hello Minimaker Families,
December brings us the winter holidays. It is a time for us as a community to be joyful, thankful, and thoughtful. This month also reveals a sense of competence from our students as readers and writers. Because our students practice reading and writing skills every day, they are beginning to see themselves now as readers and writers. During reading time they are making connections, predicting, and sharing key details. During writing time they are planning, sharing ideas, and making books. This high level of engagement includes making mistakes, problem solving, and learning from each other.
They know that practice leads to success. They realize with perseverance they can do hard things. Their reactions to when they notice they are successful is an exciting thing to see. They love talking about it. They want to share with you what they know and show you what they can do. Because they are reflecting, interacting, and communicating daily, they are building on their oral language and social skills. This is another connection to them having a sense of competence.
With the winter holidays approaching, our students are working diligently on projects to share with their families. They are excited to make special things for their loved ones. Their creativity and intentionality are examples of them owning their work. During this time, they are receiving feedback, making changes, and talking about their work. They are building up their social skills.
We are proud in what we see from our students. This happens because of our engaged students, our caring staff, and our families who trust us to give our students what they need when they need it. As always, we encourage you to reach out to child’s teacher when you have questions about your child’s experiences at school.
Our Minimakers can do AMAZING things!
