A Note from Mrs. Colangelo
Dear Sonoran Foothills Families,
Welcome back! I hope each of you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break filled with family, friends, and cherished memories. As we return to school, it’s hard to believe we’re entering the final stretch of Quarter 2. With just three weeks left in the quarter, please remember that Quarter 2 will officially end on December 20th.
December is always a special month here at Sonoran Foothills. One of our most highly anticipated events, the Annual Luminary Night, will take place on Friday, December 6th. This magical evening is a treasured tradition, and we’re excited to see the community come together for this celebration. Additionally, our talented band and choir students will be performing in their winter concerts this month, showcasing their hard work and musical gifts. Winter sports also begin this week, and we look forward to cheering on our student-athletes!
I’m thrilled to share some incredible news: Sonoran Foothills School has once again been recognized as an A-rated school by the Arizona Department of Education! This honor reflects the dedication, expertise, and passion of our staff, paired with the unwavering support and involvement of our families. Together, we continue to provide an outstanding educational experience for our students.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Sonoran Foothills a remarkable place to learn and grow. Let’s finish this quarter strong and enjoy all the wonderful moments December brings.
With Gratitude,
Mrs. Colangelo
Proud Principal

Sonoran Foothills Fine Arts!
SF Band
On Thursday November 14th, the 7th/8th grade Bobcat Wind Ensemble, under the direction of our band director Mrs. Lily Brooksby, participated in the DVUSD Band Pre-Assessment at Boulder Creek High School. The students performed two pieces of music for a panel of judges, and receive a rating and feedback on their performance. This will help the ensemble grow and improve as musicians, in preparation for concerts and our Post-Assessment in March.
We are proud to announce that the Wind Ensemble earned a rating of "Excellent" in all three categories assessed: Sound Quality, Technical Ability, and Musicality! We are super proud of these students and all the amazing work they have put in to perform at such a high level!
SF Choir
This semester has been music-filled in the choir classroom! This semester our choirs have performed at a TRACKS Meet, the Diamondbacks game against the Padres and the DVUSD Choir Assessment. Most recently we also had 9 students selected to be a part of the DVUSD District Honor Choir where they got to work with singers from around the district as well as conductors from the Phoenix Children's Choir. They all worked very hard and the performances were phenomenal.
Our Sonoran Singers Choir participated in the DVUSD Choir Assessment back in October, where they performed two songs for highly esteemed judges. Our choir students performed extremely well and received an excellent rating in every category. We are so proud of all of our singers at Sonoran Foothills and we are looking forward to Luminary Night and our Winter Concert on December 10th at 6:30 pm.
