Back to School Night - Wednesday, September 4th
Valhalla is opening its doors on Wednesday, September 4th to welcome parents/guardians BACK TO SCHOOL!! The evening will begin at 5:15pm in the Thunderdome (the gymnasium) with presentations from our Principal, Athletic Director, PTO President and Title Coordinator. Please park in the student parking lot near the stadium and sign in as you enter the Thunderdome.
At 5:30pm, the rest of the campus will be open - walk through the halls of Valhalla at your leisure. You can visit your student’s classrooms, meet your counselor, or visit an informational table in the Student Center. Please note: teachers teach more than one class and may have designated time set for your student's specific course.
The Open House will end at 6:45pm. We look forward to spending this time with you.
*UPDATE: We're in the process of installing a shade structure in the pool quad. Due to the construction, the BBQ portion of Back to School Night has been canceled. We apologize for this late change in information.
Student Picture Make-Ups: Sept 5th
Cherished Memories will be on campus Thursday, September 5th to take student photos and make student ID cards. They will only re-issue ID cards to students that did not receive theirs last week.
CSF Meeting : Thursday at Lunch
Attention current California Scholarship Federation (CSF) members. Our first meeting will be held THIS Thursday, September 5th in Room 104 during lunch. Please email Mrs. Shebloski with any questions at ssheblocki@guhsd.net.
School Site Council - We Need Student Representatives
The School Site Council provides recommendations related to the school’s Title I program, and participates in the development and approval of the school’s Site Plan for Student Achievement. School Site Council meets four times a year in October, November, March, and May at 4:00pm in the VP Conference Room.
Valhalla needs two students to serve on School Site Council this year. If you're interested in participating, please email Ms Kuhlken at vkuhlken@guhsd.net or you can stop by her office to pick up the application. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6th at 3:30PM.
9th Grade Independent Reading
All freshmen visited the library last week to learn how to find a book of their choosing for their Independent Reading Project. All 9th graders must choose and bring a book to their English class on Friday, September 6th.
Calling all 9th Graders! Get Involved!
Freshman who are interested in being a part of the Freshman ASB should FILL OUT THIS FORM. Freshman ASB will be in charge of organizing events for the class of '28 and representing their class in our student government. Applications are due 9/13.
College & Career Representative Visits are starting!
Throughout the semester, we will have a variety of college representatives visiting Valhalla to meet with our students. Visits are held in the counseling office, unless specified, and students of all grade levels are welcome to attend. Just visit our College and Career Reps Visit page and fill out a quick Google Form to sign up. Students will be sent a pass to attend and are responsible for communicating with teachers regarding any missed class time/work. See below for upcoming visits this week!
