20-21 SCHOOL YEAR IMPORTANT INFORMATION
WELCOME BACK BLUEJAYS!
Blue Jays,
After everything that we have been through, it is a true pleasure to write a message to begin the ‘welcome back’ part of the 2020-21 school year. As a school, community, state, and nation, the past few months have been trying at best – and nearly unbearable at worst. So, it is with grateful hearts that we share this newsletter full of back to school information.
I know that everyone has been waiting for the Marshfield R-1 Reopening Plan for the past several weeks. Thank you for your patience with us and for the kind words of hope and encouragement that have been shared during its development. It is a blessing to work in a community that is understanding and positive when times are hard. I’m pleased to share the full reopening plan as part of this newsletter. It was unanimously approved by the board of education on Thursday, July 23. I can’t express enough thanks to our leadership and administrative teams for their work in developing this document and the guidelines contained in it. Please know that their focus during this entire process has been on a safe and comfortable return to learning for our students and staff.
This newsletter contains many other important dates, links, schedules, and plans. Please take the time to review each of them. I would encourage you to save this newsletter so you can find it later. But, just in case it is lost, it will be linked on our district webpage at www.mjays.us.
We look forward to seeing students on campus again on August 24.
Enjoy the rest of your summer,
David Steward, Superintendent

TRANSPORTATION DEADLINE AUGUST 1ST
TRANSPORTATION NEEDS
ALL transportation needs will be submitted during online registration. Parents will submit transportation information during online registration EVEN IF THE TRANSPORTATION REQUEST IS THE SAME AS THE 19-20 SCHOOL YEAR. Parents submitting online registration AFTER AUGUST 1st will be required to provide their own transportation the first two days of school. Prior to the first day of school, our nearly 40 bus drivers are given student information. As you can imagine quite a lot of time is spent fine tuning routes and contacting families. For this reason a deadline is necessary.
ADDITIONAL TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
ALL permanent bus transportation changes MUST be communicated through Central Office. DO NOT give this information to the classroom teacher OR the building office. 859-2120 ext. 0
Students will be allowed ONLY 3 permanent bus changes throughout the entire school year.
Students may only be set up for TWO transportation addresses at any given time.
Students may only travel to permanent addresses listed during online registration. There will be NO after school notes accepted for students traveling to addresses parents have not previously listed for their child during online registration. If you would like to list an address in case of emergency after school, please do so during online registration under "PM2 Address." Rather than listing days of the week, you will list "OCCAS." In the event that your student needs to travel to that address, you will either send a note to school with your child or call the building office.

Hello Blue Jay Families!
As we quickly approach the start of our 2020/2021 school year, we continue to recognize the importance of maintaining a constant pulse on the COVID-19 circumstances in our community, and with this in mind, continue to diligently plan for a successful return to campus. We are eager to welcome our students back to campus soon. As we say this, we are aware that the needs of our families and students are diverse, and some families may not feel 100% ready for a full return to campus due to health and wellness concerns. With this in mind, we are excited to share the following news.
As of today, Marshfield Virtual Program (MVP), will become our official K-12 solution for virtual and limited on-campus instruction for Marshfield students and families. MVP is a K-12 virtual learning experience with the following course features:
- Designed and/or facilitated by highly qualified Marshfield teachers
- Engaging and customized lessons to fit individual student needs
- Opportunity for face-to-face learning support in one-on-one and small group settings
- District-provided devices for online learning
- Multiple course formats (on/off campus) to meet individual student/family needs
- Flexible scheduling options to accommodate differing at-home schedules
- Innovative Learning Management Systems powered by Canvas and Seesaw for Schools
We believe MVP will be an excellent option for families with substantial health and wellness concerns related to returning to campus in August. With this in mind, we also believe on-campus instruction is critically important to student success, and have developed extensive plans to keep students safe with our return to campus. We encourage all families to choose on-campus instruction whenever possible, but recognize that the current COVID-19 situation may lead some families to seek a virtual and/or at-home solution. For additional information regarding MVP please access the document below.
If you are interested in enrolling your student(s) in MVP for the 2020/2021 school year please access the appropriate link below for your student(s). Please note, an interest form must be submitted for each student you wish to have considered for MVP enrollment.
