Mac's Message
26 MN 22 MF
Dear Scottie Families,
A Scottie Shout Out to the volunteers who were reading with students, assisting with celebrations, and encouraging our Scotties. We are appreciative of your efforts! We celebrated 100 days of school and wonderful friendship among other great experiences this week.
As we transition to midwinter break, your child will bring their device home in case it is needed for distance learning when we are scheduled to return on February 24.
Thank you for your continued collaboration and partnership as we support student learning.
We look forward to seeing you on February 24th!
Sincerely,
Zoe Facilla, she/her

Let's Talk About Childhood Anxiety
Join our School Counselor, Ms. Katie, for an informal book discussion about Jonathan Haidt's The Anxious Generation
Monday March 10 from 8:00 - 9:00 in the Scottie Library
All are welcome, even if you don't read the book
Too busy to read? You can listen to a conversation between Jonathan Haidt and Dr. Becky Kennedy HERE.
Lost and Found
Please take a moment to encourage your child to stop by the lost and found on the first floor to claim their items. Labeling your child's coats with their name is a fast way to get their misplaced item back to them. Left behind items will be donated to Mary's Place on March 1.

1. McDonald Heads to Olympia to Champion Education Funding on February 17th.
You can Join Us!
The McDonald Advocacy Team would like to implore you to join us on Monday, February 17th in Olympia to advocate for funding. It will be one of the biggest in-person opportunities of the year. Please email advocacy@mcdonaldpta.org if you are interested.
2. Red Robin Fundraiser: Wednesday, February 26th
Dine Out at Red Robin!
On Wednesday, February 26th, take your family and friends to dine at Red Robin Northgate to help support our $450K fundraising goal!
Red Robin is donating 20% of food sales to McDonald International Elementary all day on Wednesday, February 26th. Participation includes dining in AND pick-up orders. Simply mention the fundraiser if you are dining in or follow the directions on the flyer to place your pick-up order online at redrobin.com or the Red Robin mobile app. All funds will go to the McDonald PTA General Fund. For online and mobile app orders you must add the fundraiser to your cart before you check out for the sales to count towards the fundraiser. Thanks for participating!
3. SAVE THE DATE: AUCTION on MARCH 28th, 5-9 pm
Please save March 28th, 5-9pm, for our 3rd annual evening out and fundraising silent auction at Ravenna Brewing. This adults only event is a once a year opportunity to gather for a night out and raise some money for McDonald Elementary!
4. Calling All Auction Volunteers!
Your help is requested for the success of our event at Ravenna Brewing! We are looking for volunteers to help out before and after the event:
- Item procurement
- Item pickup coordinator
- Online auction platform assistance
- Event setup
Please email auction@mcdonaldpta.org if you’re interested in helping!
5. Donate an Item for Our Silent Auction
We are actively sourcing items for our silent auction, but we need your help!
Do you work somewhere that could offer an item?
Do you have a personal hobby that would make a great item (host a drawing class, sew a custom outfit for a kid, deliver a home cooked meal or baked good, host a dinner, etc.)?
Do you have a cabin you could offer for a weekend or a week?
Do you have season tickets for a sports team and you’d be willing to donate a game?
We could also use help asking local businesses for donations. If you’re out at a restaurant, salon, shop, etc. that you think other McDonald families would go to, ask them if they’d be willing to donate an item to the auction! We can provide all the forms you would need, but those personal asks, especially when you’re a current customer are the most successful!
Thank you all for helping to make this auction a huge success for our school and community!
Please email auction@mcdonaldpta.org if you have an item to donate.
6. Save the Date for International Night
Save the date: International Night will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025. This is our annual all-school afternoon of performances from our students and guests, fun activities, a yummy bake sale, and food trucks. Let's come together as a community to celebrate the "international" at the heart of McDonald International School!
When: Saturday, May 3, time TBD.
Where: McDonald school grounds
Do you want to pitch in? Additional co-chairs and other planning volunteers are needed! Email the PTA Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@mcdonaldpta.org to learn more.
7. We’re Almost There! Help Us Reach the Fundraising Finish Line!
Thanks to our incredible community, we’ve raised an amazing $350,000 to support the amazing Instructional Assistants and interns who make our dual-language program thrive. These dedicated educators are the backbone of our children’s success in becoming bilingual, bicultural, and future-ready.
We’re so close to our $450,000 goal—just $100,000 left to go! Every dollar makes a difference in preserving and enhancing this unique program for our students.
How You Can Help:
Make a donation today—any amount helps!
Share this message with friends, family, and anyone passionate about language and education- we welcome donations from our extended community!
Together, we can ensure our children continue to receive the language support they need to thrive. Let’s finish strong and keep our community vibrant and growing!
Thank you for being champions for our kids and their future!
