Helper Helper
Community Service Hours
- May 5th Submission Deadline: Spring semester deadline for submission of commitments is Sunday May 5, 2024. Please note that this is to ensure that there is enough time for approval before sending reports to teachers. Commitments submitted after May 5th are allowed, but are not guaranteed to be fully validated in time to count for this semester. As always, service commitments have a 2 week submission deadline.
- Reminders
- In almost all cases, parents do not act as coordinators. Please list a coordinator that is affiliated with the non-profit organization and has an email address with that organization.
- As pictures are sometimes needed as proof of service, please consider taking a picture of your student serving in case it is needed later on.
- Please find donation opportunities under the “Ongoing Opportunities” tab of our Helper Helper platform. Students are allowed to submit hours for LPS-coordinated donation drives and fulfill up to half of their service hours with these approved donation drives. Details are in the listings on the Helper Helper platform.
- Looking for the 2023-2024 guidelines? They can be found on pages 87-90 in the Parent-Student Handbook. Questions? Please email helperhelper@lpsfrisco.net
Important VOE Information
If you are needing a VOE for your student's driving tests, this needs to be done by the last week of school. The VOE request is turned off over the summer while we are on summer break. The form is valid for the entire summer if received the last week of school.
TOP Soccer
On May 4th the National Soccer Hall of Fame is inducting the first ever ParaOlympian, Josh McKinney. On May 5th he along with other coaches in the Dallas area, are running a FREE soccer clinic at Toyota Soccer Park. Children do not need to have participated in the sport before to attend. We are looking to provide a fun opportunity for children to engage in activities and experience soccer. We would love if you would share the information with your parents. All participants are partnered with a “buddy” who will stay with them throughout the clinic. This is an incredible opportunity for children to have fun and participate in adaptive physical activity. Information: TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) Play Day is for children with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities and provides people with diverse abilities an opportunity to play soccer in a structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive, and inclusive. North Texas Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer are hosting a free morning of TOPSoccer activities and games in Frisco, TX. This Play Day coincides with the induction of Josh McKinney to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Josh was the captain of the US Para National Team and competed in three Paralympics. He will be joining coaches and volunteers to support this event. All participants will be paired with a buddy for the entire event.
