Shamrock Blast

It's almost time to start the 2024-25 school year! This Shamrock Blast is full of information that you and your family might need to be prepared for the first day of school. We have also created a back to school experience on our website that serve as a hub for back to school information.
We hope you are as excited as we are. See you soon!
School Fees
For the 2024-25 school year, families will NOT be charged for textbook rental fees, however, Westfield Washington Schools will reinstate student fees in the 2024-25 school year.
During the 2023-2024 school year, WWS did not charge student fees to families because the State of Indiana and Indiana Department of Education amended the textbook adoption process, taking responsibility for all student textbook and curricular fees. Many school districts across Indiana, including WWS, paid for all costs associated with textbook adoption including all student fees.
However, for the 2024-2025 school year, we will be charging for student fees associated with specific classes as well as consumable supplies. Fee amounts will be very similar to previous years. Grades K-6 will be approximately $30 per student. Grades 7-12 will depend on the students’ course selection, with advanced placement, dual credit and CTE classes adding costs. More information will be sent out as the school year approaches.
Returning Student Registration
ALL RETURNING STUDENTS need to register EVERY YEAR for Westfield Washington Schools. So, if you haven't had a chance to re-register your child(ren), please take a couple of minutes to sign them back up.
Chromebook Insurance
Westfield Washington Schools is a one-to-one district which means every student has a mobile device that is provided by the district. Students in grade K-1 have iPads and students in grades 2-12 will have a Chromebook. Second graders get Chromebooks, but they remain at school unless there is an anticipated eLearning day. To help families in case of accidental damage, we have partnered with K12 Tech to offer insurance for a one-time cost of $23 and no deductible for repairs. K-2 students do not need to sign up for insurance. Chromebook insurance is good for one school year. Students who had insurance last year need to purchase it again this year if they want coverage.
Buying School Lunch
To purchase breakfast, lunch or snack at any Westfield Washington School, you must sign up through LunchTime and create an account for each child. Once enrolled, you can add money to your child(ren)'s account. They will enter their Student ID at the register and the costs of the purchase will come out of that account.
Free/Reduced Lunch and Fees
A new application must be completed each school year. The Application for Free or Reduced Meals and Other Benefits is now available on-line by clicking the button below. You can also come to the Administration Building between the hours of 7 am - 4 pm to complete an application on-line. School-Parent Communication
Westfield Washington Schools is now using TalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.
The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
Suspect a Disability?
If you suspect your child may have a disability or have concerns related to your child’s IEP, please contact your child’s teacher, school principal or call the student services/special education office at 317-867-8006.
For children at least two and a half years of age, but not yet age-eligible for kindergarten, you should contact the early childhood coordinator at the Virginia F. Wood Early Learning Center 317-896-4813.
Help us Stuff The Bus - July 26th!
We will collect supplies for Westfield Washington Schools at Walmart from 12 to 6 PM today. Can't make it? You can donate online!
Important Immunization Information
ALL Immunization records or exemptions must be received by your school nurse by August 8, 2024. This is a requirement per state law for every student enrolled in Indiana schools.
If you are new to the district or returning and received a message from the school nurse about missing immunization information, please continue reading. If your student is up to date, and you did not receive a message from the school nurse, no action is required.
NOTE: All Religious or medical exemptions expired the last day of school 5/30/24. A new exemption form must be signed/received by the start of each school year to be considered up to date. Forms are located HERE.
