Meadow Brook Magic
Week 1 & 2: August 14th-25th
Welcome Back Meadow Brook Mustangs!
Mustang Monday Message
Mustang Family,
The last two weeks have been a great week to start our new school year! It was wonderful to welcome back returning Mustangs and to welcome new friends.
This year, our theme is “WIN!” Inspired by Larry Gelwix, who led Highland High School’s rugby team to an impressive 418 wins with only 10 losses and twenty national championships, we are embracing his philosophy of success. Gelwix’s mantra, “We always win,” reflects more than just a winning record; it’s about focusing on what is important in the moment. His guiding question, “What’s important now?” encourages us to stay focused and intentional in our daily efforts.
Our primary focus this year will be on implementing our new literacy program, CKLA, to ensure that every student at Meadow Brook becomes a proficient reader. It is crucial for all of our students to learn to read. When a child struggles with reading, it makes further learning in science, social studies, and even math difficult. While this can be challenging, staying attentive to what truly matters and supporting each other will help us overcome obstacles and achieve success. By embracing the WIN mentality each day, I am confident we will see significant growth in our students’ reading abilities.
At Meadow Brook we highly value collaboration amongst students, staff, and parents. We know ongoing communication between home and school is paramount to providing an excellent education; please do not hesitate to reach out to me, or to your child's teacher, if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to discuss.
I am eagerly looking forward to another fantastic year at Meadow Brook, where we will continue to support and elevate one another, and in doing so, elevate our students. Let’s share the joy and success we experience with each other.
Looking forward to a great year ahead!
Warm regards,
Principal Balli

Donations
Supporting our school through donations is of paramount importance. Instead of requesting extensive school supplies, we hope for monetary donations. These generous contributions play a significant role in enriching the educational experience for our students. With the funds received, we can organize exciting field trips, procure essential classroom supplies, and conduct enjoyable classroom activities that enhance their learning journey.
Making a donation is quick and convenient. Simply log into your account on iCampus, and on the right-hand side, click on "More." You'll find a dedicated "Fee" section where you can easily make a donation. Your support, no matter the amount, goes a long way in making a positive impact on our students' education.
We are immensely grateful for your generosity and belief in the value of education. Together, we can continue to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for all our students.
Breakfast & Lunch
To determine eligibility for free or reduced-price meals for the 2024-25 school year, we kindly request you to submit a Meal Benefits Application. Qualification is based on various factors, including household size, income, participation in assistance programs like SNAP, FDPIR, and TANF, as well as specific living situations such as homelessness and migrancy.
A friendly reminder: households must apply annually to confirm eligibility for free or reduced-price meals. Please note that any application signed before July 11th will not be applicable to the 2024-25 school year. To access the application, simply go to your Infinite Campus Menu, scroll down to "More," and click on "Meal Benefits."
If you find that you do not qualify for free or reduced-priced meals, rest assured that school meals are available at the paid breakfast rate of $1.50 and lunch at $2.00.
We value your participation in our meal program and are committed to ensuring that all students have access to nutritious and affordable meals. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Hearing Screening
Nebo School District offers free hearing screenings for all kindergarten, 1st , 3rd , and 5th grade students each year. This year, those screenings will be held at Meadow Brook on Wednesday September 6th. It takes about 3-5 minutes for each student.
If for any reason your child does not pass this screening, he/she will be rescreened two weeks later. This is done because in many cases, on the day of the first screening, the child had fluid in the ears, congestion, excessive ear wax, etc. Many children who fail the initial screening go on to pass the second screening.
If, however, your child does not pass the second screening, we will let you know. If this is the case, it is recommended that your child receive a full evaluation, which is offered free of charge through the district.
If for any reason you would prefer your child’s hearing NOT be screened, please email Taylor Cena at taylor.cena@nebo.edu to let her know before September 6th. Feel free to reach out to her with any questions as well.
