Hello McPherson Families,

Thank you all for a great kick off to the 2023-2024 school year! It is still the beginning of the school year, but habits are formed early so please be sure your morning routine gets you to school on time. The traffic around McPherson, and all schools, is challenging at drop-off and dismissal times. Please be patient and be sure to follow all traffic laws to ensure the safety of all of our students. Orange PD will be present around our school to help enforce traffic laws. Please see the newsletter this week for more information about student drop off and pick up, picture day for Kinder-5th grade, and news from PTA and our Ed Foundation.

Kindergarten: Students will be dropped off through the main back gate and then picked up through the Kindergarten playground gate. At dismissal time, Kindergarten parents should park and come to the gate to pick up their child. Patience is appreciated. We want to be sure that there is not crowding at the gate and that all children are picked up by the correct adult.

1st/2nd grade: Please drop off and pick up using the back gate of the school (entrance to the parking lot with the athletic field gate).

3rd-8th grade: Please drop off and pick up using the front, main gate of the school (entrance to the parking lot to access the school office).

The school gates will open at 7:30am. Please do not drop off earlier than 7:30am, supervision is not available. If you have multiple children, please make sure they are aware of which gate you will be picking them up from.

Patience is required during drop off and pick up times. The parking lots will be crowded and safety is our priority. Thank you for your understanding as we all work together to make sure that everyone is safe as they are dropped off and picked up from school.

Free and appropriate dress for Kindergarten through 5th grade for PICTURE DAY on Tuesday, September 12th. Our new picture vendor is Pictures with Class. MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, 6TH-8TH, WILL NOT BE TAKING PICTURES ON THIS DATE. MIDDLE SCHOOL PLEASE WEAR YOUR McPHERSON UNIFORM. MIDDLE SCHOOL MAKE UP PICTURES WILL BE TAKEN ON MAKE-UP DAY ON OCTOBER 10th

All birthday marquee messages must be purchased by the Wednesday prior to the week you are requesting.

The McPherson Education Foundation has a wristband booth at the Orange International Street Fair from Friday, Sep 1 - Sunday, Sep 3. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the booth (your time will be credited to your volunteer hour requirement at McPherson Magnet). We are only asking for 2.5 hours of your time, which earns us about $100 in donations per volunteer. It’s a fun way to hang out and meet your fellow McPherson parents. You are also welcome to sign up and bring a friend with you (must be 21+). All volunteers will receive a free McPherson Spirit Shirt. Volunteers need to be 21+, but students are welcome to attend the street fair and support their adult family members. (Students may not be in the booth while parents are selling). All proceeds from the Orange International Street Fair Booth benefit current and future students at McPherson Magnet by supporting the STEM programs at the school.

MPherson Leadership – Will Be At the Street Fair – “Swiss Booth”

Come and support our leadership class Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Street Fair at the Orange Plaza on Glassell. Leadership will be selling Polish and Bratwurst sandwiches. The leadership is asking for your “tip” donations. Only tip profits go to McPherson Leadership class.

Soccer practice begins on Monday, August 28 for our middle school soccer teams. The first soccer game will be on Monday, September 11. See all practice and game dates in "Upcoming Dates". Athletic Packet is required for all students to participate in any sport at McPherson. If your student is going to play Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, or Football, please complete the pack NOW and check all sports your student will be playing through the year. ATHLETIC PACKET MUST BE TURNED IN TO PARTICIPATE IN SPORTS.
