WSD BOARD MEETING REPORT

The WSD Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19, that was live-streamed via the WSD Board of Education YouTube channel and can be viewed by visiting YouTube. The agenda and available supporting documents can be viewed online under Diligent Community. Below are some highlights.

Brian Bishop, interim superintendent, began the business portion of the meeting by providing comments and sharing District highlights. View the slideshow.

The Board reviewed the following policies for their first reading. Several of these policies were previously reviewed by the Board but came back as a first read due to revisions.

• Policy 4120 - Employment Procedures - First Read

• Policy 4140 - Certified Personnel Reemployment - First Read

• Policy 4322 - Domestic - Sexual Violence Victim Leave - First Read

• Policy 4210 - Instructional Staff Assignments and Transfers - First Read

The Board approved Policy 6180, as presented.

The Board had a first reading of Policy 7231: Names on Plaques. This policy will come back to the Board for a vote in October.

The Board discussed gathering historical data on 1300 and 1301 filings in the District.

Timberland High School's Matt Litzsinger, sports field groundskeeper, was awarded the National High School Baseball Coach Associations' 2024 Field of the Year for Region 5. Congratulations and thank you to the THS baseball team and Coach Andy Zerr for their role in keeping the field in top shape!
