Chatham Elementary School Community Update

September 29th, 2024

Dear CES SHARKS & Friends,

.It seems hard to believe that we are coming to the end of our first month of school. We have had a great start to the year and we hope you can join us on Tuesday evening for our annual Back-To-School/Curriculum Night. While at school, we invite you to check out the newly refreshed SHARKyard (formerly our courtyard). The installation of the Astroturf was recently completed and has provided a fabulous backdrop to our ongoing work to make the space a multi-purpose outdoor learning center.

For your planning purposes, you can find the scheduled presentation times for each grade level. Classroom teachers will be in their rooms and will share a 30-minute presentation at the times listed below. When you are not scheduled for a classroom presentation, we invite you to walk the building and spend some time meeting our Unified Arts teachers and community representatives in the SHARK Tank (gym). Special education and preschool providers will be stationed in their classrooms for any family who would like to stop by and say hello. We also will be offering childcare for school-aged children in the cafeteria.

Back-To-School Night is a great way to meet other families, learn about our school, and celebrate being a SHARK! Please reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions.

Arrival/Dismissal Reminders

A few quick reminders to keep Arrival and Dismissal running smooth and safe.

Adults should remain in their cars at all times. School staff can assist with letting students out (at arrival) and loading (at dismissal).
If your child needs assistance with buckling their seatbelt at dismissal, please pull up and to the side before exiting your vehicle to assist them.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE update Pick Up Patrol with your child's default dismissal plans. If you need assistance, please reach out to the Main Office and Ms. Deb or Mrs. Caswell can assist you.

CES Band Instruments

Our SHARKS love music! Mr. Toppa is an amazing music teacher who inspire/purcs our SHARKS to sing and perform. 4th-graders have the special opportunity to play an instrument. CES offers: flute, clarinet, trumpet, violin, and percussion.

If your 4th-grade student is interested in playing an instrument, but rental/purchase price is an issue, please contact Dr. Kelly and we can work to provide your student with an instrument. We want to make sure that every SHARK interested in playing an instrument has the ability to do so!
