๐ฎ A Letter from Mr. Vandell
๐ฃ Families! Here's What's Happening This Week:
Greetings HFMS Families,
Spring is here which means summer is right around the corner. With those things in mind the message remains the same for our students โ finish strong! Please continue to stay on your kiddos and remind them of the importance of having a positive final marking period. Warmer weather means more activities and at times more distractions. We can all find ourselves guilty of looking ahead prematurely and losing focus. We also have numerous upcoming positive school activities and I want to make sure all of our students remain eligible, grade and behavior wise, so that they can fully participate.
I hope you all have an outstanding โSpring Break 2025โ and are able to find time to relax and recharge for that final push to summer. As always, please do not ever hesitate to reach out to myself or our admin team if there are questions or concerns you have at any time throughout the school year.
Take care,
Eric R. Vandell
Principal, HFMS
๐ Attendance Update
Testing and Attendance
Did you know that attendance is a key factor in students obtaining proficiency in testing? A single day increase in absences can lead to a decrease in math scores by 0.2%. There is a direct connection between attendance and test scores. Students with strong attendance (missing 5 or less days) have a higher test proficiency than students with chronic absenteeism.
As testing season approaches, please encourage your student to attend school each day, on time! Getting to school late disrupts the learning process for no only the tardy student, but also the others in their class.
Remember Tiger Families: Roar to success, Miss 9 days or less!
๐Celebrations!
Please congratulate our Concert Band students on their earning of a Superior Rating at the Concert Band Festival in Musselman Middle School on March 27th.
Also, our FFA team earned First Place for Conduct of Chapter Meetings Team at the Northeast Regional Competition on March 27th.
Way to go Tigers!
