Willow Parent Bulletin # 34

2nd grade celebrations
On Thursday, two of our Wildcats from each second grade room skipped their specials for a different kind of special. They were students chosen for 2nd Grade Recognition. They may have been chosen for their kindness, academic gains, persistence when school is hard, leadership, etc. They celebrated with ice cream sundaes and praise from their Willow grown up. We know Churchill will be better for having them next year! Way to Go, Wildcats!
Young Athletes, Police, and Donuts ... oh my!
Our young athletes and peer partners stopped by the Dunkin Donuts on Halsted to support the Homewood Police Department as they collected money to benefit Special Olympics. Our athletes got to personally thank supporters and then purchased a donut for themselves. We appreciate those of you who stopped by!
Lost and Found
We have hung items and moved them outside. Please stop and take a look. Please leave the hangers, we have plenty more to put out!

Get a Good Start to Swimming
Many Illinois families take advantage of the warmer weather and time off school in the summer as an opportunity to focus on teaching young children to swim. Safety and developmentally appropriate instruction are key considerations for swim lessons. IEL has a new bundle related to swimming.

Planning for Next Year
Planning for next year is well under way. If you would like to share your perspective about how your child learns, please use the link below. We will also gather information from your child's current teacher. The link will close on May 31st. Here are some things to consider:
- We do not accept requests for specific teachers.
- Sometimes a best friend doesn't translate into a good classmate.
- Your Wildcat will be placed with a classmate or two from this year.
- The classroom teacher will provide us with academic levels and other pertinent information.
Room 18 is full of readers!
Every student in Mrs. MacLeod's Kindergarten class got a library card! They even made one for Wyle D. Cat when he stopped by to congratulate them!
Who is Safe, Caring and Ready? We are!
Bulletin Stats:
Our Wildcats are on the move! We had 469 readers from 15 states, Luxembourg, England, Canada, Israel, Germany, Netherlands, and France.
