Jordan/Jackson News You Can Use
March 27, 2024
MCAS testing began this week!
Here are some test taking tips for you and your child ~
To Reduce Test Anxiety
Parents and families can do several things to create a positive test-taking experience and help students prepare for tests. “Test anxiety” is worrying too much about doing well on a test. It can keep students from doing their best. Some ways to help reduce anxiety are:
● Talk about the test in a positive way.
● Encourage best effort.
● Encourage your child to focus on his or her strengths, such as a good memory or strong analytical skills.
● Assure your child that the test is only one measure of academic performance.
● Assure your child that their teacher has provided them with excellent strategies to help them have a successful test experience. Remind your child to be confident and use these strategies.
● Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and has a good breakfast.
Remember—you are very important to your child’s success in school and in life. Your interest and support let your child know you believe in them and that you value education. We hope these suggestions help you help your child have a positive testing experience.

Jordan/Jackson Staff Honored Last Week for Our Ongoing Partnership with the Piro Family
The Doug Flutie Foundation and Jersey Mike's provided free lunch to J/J staff last Friday in recognition of our commitment to the "inclusion of all people for the benefit of all people". The Flutie Foundation purchased the entire staff subs from Jersey Mike's as a thank you for the school's partnership with the Piro family. We would like to thank the Doug Flutie Foundation and Jersey Mike's for making Friday's event possible and the Piro Family for everything they have done for the students of Mansfield over many years.

This year’s cleanup takes place on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., rain or shine, followed by a volunteer-appreciation pizza party for volunteers on the South Common at Town Hall.
Join your classmates, friends, family, and neighbors and show your pride in a cleaner, greener Mansfield. Students can also earn community service hours by participating.
The deadline for registering for this year’s Great Mansfield Cleanup is Wednesday, April 17. The first 500 people to register will receive free tee shirts. Volunteers can sign up at www.keepmansfieldbeautiful.com.
THANK YOU MESA!
We would like to thank MESA for providing this year's fifth grade book. This year all students in Grade 5 will be receiving a copy of Unbound by Ann E. Burg. Each class will be receiving their copies over the next several weeks. Classes will read and discuss the book along with completing activities together.
Each year MESA donates these books to support our efforts with bringing enriching texts to our fifth grade students and staff. This helps to strengthen students' comprehension skills by engaging in meaningful discussions and lessons. The texts also support our conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
